I think the reason Warframe has maybe the best community around is because every player knows how lost they were when they first started, and every player had that someone who helped them navigate the madness, so everyone goes back to help the newbie's who reach out for help, and that aside from fashion frame is the true endgame. Here here! It's insane to think about how few games actually have a community like this. So many other games have communities filled with players who overcome such and such learning curves or challenges, then use that as a pedestal to stand on, to lord it over the players that haven't reached their level, completely ignorant of the players above them doing the exact same thing and how they're repeating a cycle of toxicity. yupp, the slogan "ninjas play for free" is based on the in game player economy. And ninjas aka good players, know how and where to farm things effectively, while not having to spend much time at all, so in the scope of time vs money, it's practically free in the relation to enjoyment of pure gameplay. Take someone who don't know how/where/when to farm, compared to someone who is farming properly in a group. And the group probably farms over 10000% more effectively than the player that don't know how to farm. This drives in to the economy part, where platinum acquisition is churning between knowledge and favoured content by the individuals. aka player a hates farming x, while player b loves farming it, and platinum is used to trade invested farming. Then you have the influx of platinum to the market, which is newer players, players who just don't know how to farm, or players who know how to farm, but that fashion endgame left some plat over, so it's dumped in to the economy

how to deal with the foundry timegates: build a weapon at night, go to sleep, wake up, weapon done. Same for warframe parts. For the 3-day timegate, start on another grind, play another game, do something else while waiting for the warframe to finish. I've got over 800 hours in-game, I can tell you now that the timegate doesn't block progression. It simply gives an opportunity to do something else. It's the same reason they put in several intentional break area in the 4th-to-final current quest.

the foundry has no limit on the number of items you can have building or built, so you could have hundreds of items crafted, and only be limited by the number of active weapon/warframe slots you have. -highly- recommend going on a massive build spree, so there's always something waiting ready to go.

I’d love to see more content on this game from you, especially regarding how your experience changes the longer you play, and your opinions on the stories evolving narrative. One insight I’d give into the monetisation of Warframe is that the majority of money DE makes comes from platinum purchases with discounts, direct purchases of Tennogen cosmetics, and prime access purchases. The endgame of Warframe is essentially making your Warframe’s look as cool as possible and operate as effectively as possible I.e. Fashionframe Edit: Also, regarding the time gating, it becomes far less of an issue the further you get into the game. With crafting in particular, you’ll be making so many weapons, warframes and items that you won’t really feel the delays at all. I’m currently sitting on 133 items unclaimed in my foundry because I just can’t find time to use them all. The only delay that’s a real issue is the standing limits which can definitely be a bit frustrating, but with the amount of different factions you’ll be encountering it’ll be near impossible to cap out your standing limits for all of them anyway.

Warframe founder here: The game has changed so much since I started playing that it’s very interesting to hear what a new player experience is like. There are so so many systems, and so many things to do. The time gating never bothered me; there was always so much else to do, something else to farm that I would just go do that and have multiple things lined up. Quests are super important, and I would definitely make unlocking the star chart and getting those quests a priority. I have definitely spent money on this game and will in the future. I pretty much only buy cosmetics. Farming for the stuff is the fun part for me, and I want to look cool doing it. If you ever need help, check recruiting chat and ask for help. He also mentions difficulty but once you start dealing with arbitrations as a new player as well as later content like steel path also abbreviated as SP you will need to start focusing a lot more into build depth and synergy as well as having decent weapons. then archon hunts become a thing and then netracells and then deep archimedia and elite deep archimedia etc etc. those are the end game content. as if youre il prepared it will feel like a huge difficulty spike but yeah for alot of hours it will essentially be easy mode. difficulty comes from acquiring much needed mods or if you wanting to increase your MR (mastery rank) you will be collecting and leveling ALOT of stuff. some you keep and others you throw out. there is alot of good weapons and alot of bad "Fodder" weapons

- Don't forget about the bundles on the in game market costing in game credits. - Most players don't use platinum on anything BUT mod slots, weapon slots, and frame slots. - Your Foundry can be used as a bank, when you mastery a weapon you don't like, you can sell it and grab the next one. - Just like how your mastery (experience) banks, at times new players may finish a mastery rank test to find they're already ready for the next test. -To say that difficulty scales is an understatement. Once you complete (do a mission on every point) your star chart, Steel Path opens up, which increases the level and intensity of all enemies.

@Giggles4692 ahh, but every expansion of Warframe holds big changes to how the gameplay works and how the new player experience is utilized. Most major streamers that made their start from warframe have admitted to making premium purchases when they started and playing as much of the game as they could, then coming back every few months for new and engaging content. You don't have to like lobby shooters like warframe, but they have their uses for times that you just need to feel overpowered and a sense of accomplishment for a few minutes at a time, and isn't pushing you to play more than you need or spend more than you have.

Great video. I have a few answers to some of the questions you’ve raised that I hope will ease you in to your next chunk of play. Timers. Not as bad as all that unless you are in full no-life goblin mode (we’ve all been there). The strategy is to have a bunch of things cooking at one time. Throw in some sleep and a little time to touch grass (or go to work/school or whatever) and the timers melt away. I do agree that the second frame and set of weapons should have some kind of accelerated progress to keep player momentum up a little though. (NB- there is no limit to the amount of unique items you can be building or waiting to be claimed from the foundry at any time - a lot of people assume it is one at a time, it is not, assuming you could farm them all up you could have every frame in the game cooking at once if you wanted). Monetisation. Without making this turn into a full essay, there are layers there - discounts on plat purchases (both platform based and game based) - in game discounts on items too. Item bundles usually come at a discount and with some plat thrown in and are almost always the better value proposition. Music. You think the Fortuna theme is good wait until you hear the OG “This is what you are”. Masterpiece and Warframe’s secret official theme song. Progression. It’s been something like 8 years since I was where you are now and the front end of the game has changed a bit in the interim (there were no open worlds when I started). I wonder if you’re trying the harder difficulty bounties because Fortuna seems to be the stumbling point for a lot of people new to the game. Conventional wisdom is to do the bare minimum of the open worlds you need to do to get through the next Rail and progress through the star chart and coming back ready for the more challenging content the open worlds house. You should notice a hike in difficulty quite quickly. Friends who play. They can inadvertently rob the early game of a lot of fun for you. In their eagerness to help they’re giving you the fish, not teaching you how to fish. The frustration over the Fulmin and the associated MR requirement speaks to this - if you’re getting taxied to zones you don’t have access to yet to get resources (Plastids, Hexanon and Argon Crystals at a guess) you’re getting ahead of your own progression curve. I also wonder how many friends are taking you into these activities are choosing frames that can keep you alive or steamrolling everything ahead of you - there’s no way an unmodded Volt is skipping merrily into Saturn and Jupiter with a base Braton and achieving anything without a carry from more built players. It’s also not lost on me that you picked the Fulmin - my intuition tells me somebody told you to get it because it’s really good (it is) but didn’t know or forgot the MR requirement. You should be arriving at these decisions by yourself. There’s no good reason to arrive at the Fulmin before you given the Hek a thorough try too. If you’re chasing MR (again an objective that has likely been given you by someone else) you’re going to have to level everything anyway. Maybe find a list of weapons by MR and work from the bottom up. There are a number of weapons at the starter end of things that can be bought - fully assembled - for credits, not plat, credits. Matchmaking. On the top left of the navigation screen (with all the planets) click on the middle square. You can switch matchmaking modes there. Sometimes you want to explore on your own. Solo also offer pause functionality. Looking forward to the hour 40 video. Especially interested to see what your Diablo brain makes of Modding once you’ve got your teeth into it. Hope this all makes sense.

I found out wf on my own in my ps4 under free games. Played it once and stopped playing it. Didn’t understand the purpose of the game. Then a few weeks later I went back to play it and explored the game on my own. Once I found I could do quests unlock weapon bp and more wf characters, I gave myself a chance to play it a bit more. Managed to complete all quests that I had no idea it was games main lore story until a year later. I began to watch yt videos on How to…? I was able find more items and expanded my inventory in every aspect in it: characters weapons skins vehicles. I did all these things 5 years after its global release. Has been 6 years playing it now. I see myself as wf collector and not much of trader. My goal is to make my wf account a museum of old content from 10+ yrs and look back into it after a few years have gone by. Just to have something you manage to create on your over the years. Will become a beautiful piece of nostalgia over the years.

A point to add, regarding the time-gating is that it was a conscious decision like the monitisation and other aspects that are evaluated, because as we see with a lot of MMOs and Looter-shooters (looking at you Destiny) they are designed to be daily time-sinks with a lot of FOMO. Whereas DE will tell you "you've been playing for an hour, take a break" and the mastery test daily lock is another aspect of this, it's not designed to be another job the opposite in fact. Yes, this will be annoying to someone who has the free time to slog through it, but DE saw the risks of this outweigh the benefits. They have reduced the timers on items that need to be crafted for quest progression, so at least doing the story has less of these forced waits.
@agumike7 ай бұрын
I've always told people that "Time is the premium currency in Warframe," because you can obtain nearly everything as long as you invest time. And while things are building, you are always able to go farm more things, you got time, you always have more things to gather.
@NivaeliVT3 ай бұрын
10+ year veteran here. My opinion on the timegate in the foundry is that its crucial to the games survival. Sure, its annoying at times, but above all else it keeps players from just blazing through the content and "beating" it in minimal times. It means you can just hop on few a few hours a day if that, grind out a few materials &/or set something to craft, and log off for the day. Then you come back tomorrow or a few days later, and its done & ready for you to continue. Same goes for Mastery Ranks; it prevents players from just instantly blazing through the content, it forces you to soak it all in and enjoy yourself.

@ThaRealSunGod3 ай бұрын
Agreed; 7yr (holy fuck, feels like I started 2yrs ago...) vet here. It's the price we have to pay for most grinds not being time gated. Destiny limits how much loot you can get by limiting the number of times you can run an activity and get loot from it. Warframe largely has none of those whatsoever Whch means a person could theoretically play for 24hrs straight and rapidly get all the loot they need (tho rngesus may hate you) The foundry time gating is 100% necessary and helps incentivize taking breaks in a game that otherwise doesn't require them.

You might have misunderstood the "time gating"of the foundry and the Rank systems; it's in place to force you to explore the game, to force you to do something else like fishing, hunting, getting reputation, opening relics, farming materials (which most of them are NOT tradable), scanning objectives, practicing and learn mission mechanics (Spy), etc. Also they want to avoid the leveling farms that some other MMOs have, where you can buy a fully leveled account with ease. I have been playing on and off since April 14th of 2013 and I've seen a lot of the changes that the game has gone thru. Yes, the learning curve is not easy, but that's why you want to take your time and actually enjoy the game.

And then went on to explain that wasn't what they wanted and removed it after like a single day after I think it was one guy spent several hundred-thousand dollars on just rolling it. That's the kind of developer integrity Warframe has. While they've gotten a bit Nerf happy on occasion when people found a particularly broken loot cave, they've gotten better about curbing their knee jerk responses, making more acceptable balancing changes, and have made farming a lot easier for certain things to make obtaining the more difficult stuff easier. Get to the quests. Specificly the second dream. That's when it gets real.
@lilfuzzballa7 ай бұрын
I feel like some people overhype the second dream a bit much. It for sure is up there when it comes to story quests for free to play standards, but I feel we need to understand that the Second Dream will not hit as emotionally hard to a new player now, then it did for us when it first dropped. We had multiple years invested in Warframe before we even got Second Dream. Having that history with a game will make a story have way more impact. A new player just starting Warframe and maybe just a week in when they get to Second Dream, will be like, "oh that's interesting...neat quest." Then they move on.

@@lilfuzzballa Beelining for it is a bad idea, imho. I was about 200h in, having played at my own pace, and the quest uses that sense of feeling comfortable within the game to pull the rug from under your feet.
@lilfuzzballa7 ай бұрын
@@nicolasferreiro4492 yeah and even that moment for you is still just a fraction of how players felt back in 2016. We are talking a fan base that have been steadily playing for 2-3 years. You become so much more emotionally attached to the world and characters with that much time. Then when they drop that on you, it's almost life changing. But I feel a lot of vets still think it will be life changing to new players as well. So they hype it up too much and get the expectations up way more than they should, and potentially making the new player a bit more on the disappointed side when they realize it wasn't this 15/10 experience like they made it seem.
@TheFormActually7 ай бұрын
@@lilfuzzballa spot on. Second dream isn't that amazing in terms of a quest or story telling as everyone hypes it up to be, but it does send a game and your experience of it on a different path, and you can't even compare the impact it had on players after 3 years of playing the game and getting to that point, and players today.. especially since it was the "first actual story quest" ... also everyone's pretty much seen the drifter/operator already.. so yeah.. I 100% agree. I think many original players don't actually hype up the SD as much as so called cultist fanatics of warframe. I wanna say that they are the vocal minority, but I'm pretty sure it's like at least half, if not even more of the playerbase....

you can actually also get a 75% discount for platinum which is one of the best ways to manipulate players into buying it and I 100% respect that cause the player feels like he got something good for a low price and the company/studio (DE) get some amount of cash as support this drives the games economy between players. also you didn't talk about the community much so I recommend talking with the community both in game and on different sites as they are one of the nicest communities I have ever seen.

12:12 - to unlock the true challenge of the game is whenever you finish the story missions and the entire Star Rail System missions, which is a couple of weeks or so into the game. i believe the idea of being too easy at first, is to get you to learn and still progress, since its a very large game with a lot of content, a lot of things to do and farm, mods and arcanes, without mentioning learning how damage works in warframe which it becomes very important later.
the difficulty is picking up at about 250-300h in when you unlock the Steelpath, it is the normal Star Chart, but enemies have +100 levels to the level they have on the normal Strachart, they have +250% health, +250% armor and +250% damage. PS. keep grinding my guy

One great thing with Warframe is its login bonuses. I was considering buying some Plat as a way to support the game. Eventually, I got a 75% off coupon and that sealed it. Fun fact, the "time gating" is in place to prompt players to take a break to eat or drink something or play something else for a while, the timer of the foundery still continues to progress even if the game isn't currently running. Moast players miss that last part. 4 Days = 264 Likes. Holy Clem! "This comment sponsored by digital extremes" gave me a good chuckle, thanks @devilfork1

It's quite an interesting thing, cause even with the time gating and locking MR rank up to a timer (24h to re-rank or to re-try) you can still achieve something like MR13 in 12 days from the beginning of your journey, information is the key to achieve it, going blind in warframe was always something difficult... yet it is simpler today and well covered.
@joshlewis88607 ай бұрын
An 84 hour timer to get a new “character” isn’t the same as a friendly reminder to take a break. That first time seeing that a weapon takes 12 hours, and a warframe takes an additional three days feels like the ultimate betrayal. Like “I just spent the last few hours playing your game to be able to craft this, and you’re withholding it from me?! For THREE DAYS????” The longer you play the less the timer matters, I have like 7 prime frames sitting in my foundry waiting for me to play them. But for a new player who maxed all their current equipment, and had to farm for the crafting materials because they don’t have a huge stockpile yet, that timer is a gut punch. It feels like the game is spitting on those efforts.
@joshlewis88607 ай бұрын
For any new players in this situation, where you’ve leveled your weapons and frame and can’t continue leveling your mastery rank, do this. Go to your arsenal, pick a weapon slot primary/secondary/melee, and scroll through the shown weapons. All of them can be bought with Plat, the premium currency, but a decent amount of them can be purchased ALREADY CRAFTED for just credits. They’re all low end early game weapons that you can use while you start farming and crafting other weapons. Always try to keep some weapons crafting. If you run out of blueprints, go to the market at the front of your orbiter. On the weapons tab choose primary/secondary/melee, any of them. The top left has a few different symbols under the search bar that you can hover over to read. One of them is “Hide items without blueprints”. If you toggle it on, the market will now only show weapons you can buy the blueprint for with credits. These weapons still have to be built, but once you click on one you can hover over the “buy blueprint” button to see what materials that weapon requires.

About time gating : I would add this : I can't clearly remember "my beginnings"... But for as long as I remember, something you said leverages this : while farming someting, you get other things. So every now and then, I justs stop by my foundry and I have 2-6 weapons to craft and 1-2 frames ready to be crafted. And I craft them all at once. So basically, I always have things to level up and rarelly "wait" for what's being crafted......

Your delivery, respect, and overall manner for the game is invigorating to see. I myself am only about 200 hours in. Which, unfortunately still is probably only about halfway through the content. I’m always blown away by the amount of content I still find, but more so by many people’s crass attitude towards it. Most things with substance often take time, and I think you portrayed that well. I’ve never seen you before, but I plan to watch much of you in the future. (As not creepily as possible) Great job.

I am a warframe veteran of 11 years and I spent 9 of those without spending a single penny, I am living proof of how its truly free to play. Back when it was new I was one of the people who filled out the wiki and now 11 years after its start I spend a large amount of my time ingame helping new players because the largest hurdle is the new player experience where it does a poor job of explaining the simple things like how to mod weapons and warframes or that you can buy blueprints without spending real money for platinum aswell as that warframe and weapon slots are limited so you have to spend platinum to buy those slots. And this is where warframe rewards those who work hard and are patient. On one hand you COULD spend platinum I see spending platinum as a way to "skip the line" rather than "pay to win". Since even if you do buy a warframe with platinum all it does is give you the warframe, you still need to level it up and fit it with mods.

One piece of advice about the Foundry that a lot of people doesn't realise if not being told about. You can craft A LOT of things at the same time there (not sure if there's actually a limit but if there's one it's like really high) and once something is finished, you can leave that item there for whatever long you need, thus not occupying your limited and precious weapon/Warframe slots. That means for example that you can craft every component for a Warframe/weapon at the same time. Yes, you have to wait anyways but I know people that didn't know this and just build the parts one by one and it obviously became boring quickly (imagine spending 36 hours to forge three 12 hour Warframe components 😅) And, as others have already said regarding the difficulty level of the game, you just have to think about reaching The Steel Path (completing for the first time the whole Stellar Map aka your mission progression through the planets) as completing any other arpg campaign for the first time, unlocking the endgame and further and harder difficulty modes. Enjoy feeling like a god among insects... while you can 😝

You are right and wrong about "patience" in Warframe. You are right, that in the first 20-30 hours, it sucks to wait 12, 24 or 72 hours to get your hands on new toys. You just have to put the game away and wait. I get that. (the game is free, btw) OR! You can look at this from another, and imo, proper perspective. This game is massive. It was small in closed and early open beta in 2013. But then in grew very rapidly. Each two weeks there was some new stuff - couple of weapons, new mission, new warframe etc. You just start to craft whatever you have "ready to craft" in you foundry... and go do other stuff in the game. Stop for the day and return tomorrow. Oh, cool! New gun. - put something new in the foundry - return tomorrow. Oh, cool! New frame. - put something new in the foundry - return tomorrow. Sooner than later you will be drown in things "ready to claim". You will do it for the mastery rank, you will do it for the stuff you actually want to try and to use. Every day, for a long time, you will have something new to try. It is about the journey, not about "I spend 50 hours, I want to "Complete" the game". And then you realize, that you spent 1 000 hours in the game. P.S. I have 5,5k hours in Warframe. And yes, good stuff in Warframe starts at 100+ hours. - Sigh - P.P.S Regarding difficulty - try to do long endurance runs on any endless mission and also wait till you get to Steel path and some other, very late in the game, activities. You can still crush them, if you know what you're doing, but not as a newer player, without good arsenal and understanding for the game. Warframe is not about difficulty, it is about fun.
