Adapted Kayaking training for Double Amputee

Despite the amputation of both of his legs, this patient was determined to enjoy kayaking. Recreational therapists worked with him in the hospital’s warm water pool, helping him find his center of gravity and developing his balance, his ability to reach out and paddle, and his capacity to know when to shift his weight so as not to flip. Matt is now ready to get out and paddle. He may elect to use adaptive equipment to help stabilize his kayak, and knows how to roll the kayak should it flip.
