Great idea. I never thought of this. The TL431 shunt regulator is in almost all power supplies for regulating the output voltage. I will have to keep this in mind next time I need to change the voltage on a laptop power supply. I salvage these when ever I can from folks who just throw everything away or I get them for a dollar from thrift stores. Great high amperage PSUs. Great PSU for powering LED circuits.

If you need 14.5k of resistance, and already have a 27k SMD resistor in-place, you could have soldered another 33k resistor on top, or with a 1/8w axial resistor between two existing pads that are electrically connected. Then you'll have 14.85k Ohm, without having to painfully remove that SMD resistor. And quick and easy to change it back to factory voltage without finding that darn tiny resistor you took out.

because V = I * R so V decrease linealy with R. Other words a smaller Resistance will give you a bigger V = Voltage

you need to lower the resistor smaller. as in the video. we have reduced the resistor from 27ko 19v to 14.50ko 12v. but be careful without multimeter don't try
