I would also add a reversible barrel connector output from an adjustable 3,4.5,6,7.5,9 and 12volt barrel interchangeable wall power supply.That way you can power most low power electronics,and reverse the barrels if the tip is non standard negative.Some tips are negative for some reason.

Usually when you find the tips reversed its because the company wanted to make the PSU Proprietary so you can only get it from them. Any noob cake can simply cut/splice the wires in reverse. 😆

На сопротивлении перепаяй провода, чтобы при вращении по часовой стрелке напряжение увеличивалось, а против уменьшалось. Так буде правильнее. И переменное можно взять с меньшими габаритами и поставит в центр корпуса во внутрь, а наружу вывести только ручку.

The transformer was dedicated around the peak voltage ex 12V, you cannot increase or decrease the TL431 above 12 volts because the PWM IC pulse duty cycle will run out of range and stop oscillating.

I don't need to pay $75+ for a proper adjustable PSU" and know very little about HOW switch mode PSU's work. Fixed output units are designed to be fixed output.. I mean I guess this would be fine for someone learning electronics to experiment with but not for someone looking for a bench PSU, definitely if one needs an LED light driver..

Convention has it that when a Pot is turned clockwise the output voltage (Vout) should increase not decrease as seen here. Swapping the two fixed wire nodes of the Pot will fix this.

Your not wrong, I rewired the pots in my mom's stereo to be left handed friendly (she's left handed) as a kid... the moral of that story was tangential but since I brought it up anyways... I learned that you should ask if people want a favor before you do it... she had gotten used to using them the normal way and it kept throwing her off, so she had me change it back. Also while technically a variable resistor in theory should work fine both ways, design is probably party informed by this convention thus they're designed to be used per the convention. Though I doubt that the design-informed-by-convention effect has had much or even any effect in the actual pots produced by the various manufacturers, so I can't see it being an issue, I'm just explaining the underlying principles of why we... you know what, I'm talking too much...

Whether it be controlling the brilliance of a lamp, the volume level of an audio amplifier or the Output voltage of a bench power supply the following is an accepted POT convention worldwide. Turning Clockwise = Increase Turning Counterclockwise = Decrease

It's not just convention. I reversed the gas valves on my stove. I have seen only one volume control wired up wrong. Hotel in Florida vacation and my dad blasted the TV every time he went to adjust it. Plumbing is where this got screwed (pun) up. They took a normal right hand thread and put it into a head and valve seat and now it works backwards. Electronic controls hadn't been invented yet. But now hear me out, if you have a logarithmic volume pot it will definitely be near useless backwards. Grant's mom knew something was not right, all the range was near the one wrong end. A linear pot would be better for voltage selection, where half way up is about half the voltage range.

You can put some acetone or thinner in the área that the parts come together, wait for a minute and try to open. It is easier and more accurate using a seringe to do this.

Some sticky tape should be sticked on to the shaft of the motor to show its rotation with the varying voltage. Otherwise the rotation speed cannot be seen while demonstrating it.

I suppose it reaches the maximum voltage of the adapter, in this case 12v or a little more. He's probably saying it's good for adapters up to 25v because he puts 25v capacitors. I don't consider it click bait, as it does give a way to get variable voltage up to the adapters voltage.

One of the wires connected to the potentiometer if the side was changed then the rising voltage would be clockwise instead of anti clockwise and that is more logical.

Hello. Thank you for this video. Like you, I modified a 12 volt charger using a variable resistance of 100 kilo ohms instead of 10 kilo ohms and a constant resistance of 20 kilo ohms instead of 2.2 kilo ohms. @@user-ht4mi7jg9g напряжение где мерял? если без вариорезистора, то будет стабильно какое-то одно (жестко определяемое делителем напряжения на постоянных резисторах). Если как на видео, то будет варьироваться вероятно даже до 25в, т.к. регулируется ШИМ по первичке. Хотя судя по всему нужно отправить тебя к Доктору Дью или спросить "ты точно понимаешь в электронике? "

Про переменный резистор понятно, но без дополнения в схему элементов, повышающих напряжение, разве можно его получить выше дефолтного, впаяв переменный резистор? Может я видео невнимательно посмотрел, вполне возможно.

@@user-ht4mi7jg9g Про ИБП проще прочти статьи в нэте (с того же журнала Радио и т.п.) тогда поймешь, что та принцип работы другой. По простецки: изначально на вторичке там примерно в 2-3 раза выше напряжение, которое по сути и задавливается до нужного (стабилизируется) применением стабилитрона или управляемого стабилитрона (как на этом видео). потому естественно, что применяя переменный резистор можно подавать на выход и меньше номинала и выше номинала исходного ИБП. Как бы для электронщика это вполне естественное явление в импульсной технике

Nice video. However, it could be more clear that opening a power supply like this is very dangerous due to the rectified high voltage. It could lead to death for anyone touching metal parts of the inside or the potentiometer on the outside if soldering is bad or incorrectly done.

it'll be whatever the original label states, but also the maximum wattage is a limit if set to higher voltage than original, so if original is 12v 2amp thats 24 watts, if set to higher voltage, such as 24v, max current will be 1 amp, you may think you could get 4amp when at 6volt output but very unlikely, current is limited by wire size in the transformer and rectifier type
