Adapting a Dovetail Bar to your Lunt 35 or 40mm H-alpha Telescope WITHOUT REMOVING the Lunt Dovetail

@@starastronomer wanted to let you know I did the modification on my Lunt 40mm. I bought a Neewer 9” one from Amazon and put that longer Vixen Style plate on the original short sattle of the Lunt. I am now able to much better balance my setup on the Tracking mounts and because of that the tracking is now way more precise! Thanks again for the tips/Info! Just a month of tweaking and testing to use the setup during the April 8th eclipse!😀

thanks for that i have the lunt 50 pressure tuner and putting a dove tail on the cradle rings is not the easiest i wish they gave it with 2 rings and a bar or at least give it with a vixen car already made for the cradle

Hi starastronomer, I just got my Lunt 40 today, I wanted to say it's super easy to remove the 2 allen bolts to add which makes it so easy to remove and replace the Vixen Dovetail bar. Lunt uses very short allen bolts and should still work with the standard vixen dovetails as long you find a vixen dovetail that has 2 long open rails so you can mount and use the Lunt allen bolts.. I am doing this... I recommend taking off the stock Lunt dovetail. For using a Vixen mount unit.

I needed the extra height so I kept the original dovetail on the Lunt and added the Vixen bar to it. Did you get the upgraded focuser like mine?

@@starastronomer You mean the Featherlight? No, it's NOT available and I plan to remove the 40's Ealon and use it with my Quark for a Double Stack. So what little use the L40 scope won't be much. Today I did play around with it agree I don't like the stock focuser much but it works. The OTA is a 52mm 1.0 thread pitch, so there are a few adapter Coma unit on order just now..
