In this video, I teach you how to create ADAPTIVE SPRINGS (spring animations). I genuinely appreciate you choosing to learn with Engineering Applied and welcome you to the Autodesk Inventor Tutorial Series (Autodesk Inventor Tutorial for Beginners) where we are taking an in-depth look into this awesome and easy to use CAD software! This video is part of a complete and easy to follow Assembly Creation Tutorial Module that covers all of the major tools and functions used to create 3D geometry. You can find the rest of the series on my channel under the "Autodesk Inventor Tutorials" Playlist. Also, check the end of the description for time stamps to specific functions in this video. If there is anything else you would like to see or learn about, feel free to reach out via the contact page on my website.

Thanks for the video….i am stuck on trying to project geometry of both plates…I can project the bottom plate but the top one will not project and it prevents me from creating the driven dimension….not sure what I am doing wrong

A great video! I did every single step but it gives me an error when i mate one of the spring faces with one of the two faces and I don't know why. I've ground one of the two plates, the other is distanced by a longer distance than the spring free length so that when I mate the spring with the far plate it should extend...

How would you simulate a spring with only one fixed end, like in a Jack-in-a-box? Or a bendy cylinder spring like in a wacky inflatable tube man?

Another awesome one, Very easy explained Thank you :) A quick couple of questions if you don't mind :) 1-You choose to model the Spring/Coil, is it possible to have it modelled before and insert it ? or this method is preferred so it can be referenced in the assembly ? 2-While creating the coil and selecting Dimension feature, can I also make the equation ( d0 - CoilDiameter ), so that if the diameter of the coil changes i don't need to insert the dia ?
@engineeringapplied
@engineeringapplied 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! See answers below: 1. This method is preferred as it allows you to reference the height dimension created within the sketch that the coil references. If I find a way to use a pre-made spring component, I'll let you know! 2. Absolutely! That's a great question. If your height dimension = "d0" and your coil diameter is "d1", you can type in: "d0 - d1" and that would work (this is preferred method). I did not enter the equation like that because I know it can be difficult for some people to fully understand a new concept when too many variables are being presented at once so I wanted to simplify what I was doing to make it as easy as possible to follow. I would definitely recommend you type in the variable name in case you want to change the spring diameter, that way everything will auto-update :) Great questions! Thanks again for watching!

How can I avoid spring elongation when the referenced distance exceeds a certain value?

When I get to the part where i drive my part, how come my spring wont react? it treats the other objects, the one "pushing" on the spring like it is a ghost. mate distance changes but spring does not react.
