Dude, thank you! I own both of these and tried connecting both and failed miserably. I was looking for this exact tutorial and thought i was SOL. I started to think that this wasn't possible because the 18i20 isn't exclusively an ADAT preamp, but it didn't make sense based on what I've read about it. Anyways, THANK YOU

Glad you got it working - it's harder than it needs to be. The UA console is a dog's breakfast for sure. I heard a new version is coming - it needs a major overhaul when it comes to the I/O UI.

Broooo I got to try this out when I get home in a couple hours I have an 18i20 connected to my Apollo x6 I’ve gotten sound into it but I’m trying to get my TV’s audio in stereo at 96kHz 😂 it’s only in stereo when I have both at 48kHz but your video has my gears CHURNING with ideas now

I got it all to work!!! Only thing is I have to keep it at 48kHz sync - once I hit 96kHz no audio shows up anywhere Also I think because I have the x6, different menus and buttons appear, aka I had to use S/PDIF optical on 18i20 with ADAT link into the x6 master clock!!! Works like a CHARM with an additional 8 in inputs with my TV as ADAT 1&2 stereo pair for games and movies 😁😁😁😁😁

I have pretty similar setup, but with brand new Apollo Twin USB & Scarlett 18i20 gen2. I would like to have Apollo as a master and 18i20 gen2 as a slave. Mostly looking to use 18i20 outputs to send more channels from Cubase to the studio console both stereo and mono channels. When I had two of the same 18i20 gen2 it didn't work for me. Only one channel was sending out from the slave device, seems like me doing something wrong. I hope with Apollo it would be a bit different. Will get into the studio and will try your tutorial on the spot. Many thanks. Saimon

Hi. I have an Apollo Twin Duo and thinking about getting a Scarlett 18i20 to use it as a slave to the Apollo Twin, just like you did. The reason I'm inclined to get an 18i20 instead of an OctoPre is because the OctoPre doesn't have any Midi I/O and I'd like to have a midi interface as the Apollo doesn't so my question is, if you could help me out with this info (I've tried Googling but can't find a clear answer) is whether the Midi interface on the 18i20 will still work if the Focusrite is used in Slave mode and with the USB cable disconnected as I won't be able to use 2 interfaces at once on my Windows system (ASIO). I have an octopre dynamic (with ADAT in and outs) and an Apollo X6. Am I able to connect these and somehow use the octopre line outs within Console? It sounds like in your video you talk about doing it but I don't see that you show how to use that. I am interested in bussing synths out through the Octopre Dynamic Line Outs into an external mixer after adding affects in Console. Additionally I would like to use the Line Outs for addition processing hardware. If that is possible. Thanks for your help.

Hey! Im trying to connect my audiophile micpreamp to apollox6. I am getting signal into the preamp and set the clock to adat in the ua console and I see the adat 1-8 in protools but no sound 😢

If you are Using the scarlett 18i20 as slave, and you set the daw to the apollo x4, is it possibile to use the midi input on the scarlett? For example for an elettronic drum?

Should be able to! 10 in and 6 out on the twin as opposed to 12 and 18 on the x4.

With the Apollo Twin there's only 1 optical cable input. Does this mean it only needs to go from the Apollo In to the Scarelt Out? Very helpfull video as i'm looking to record with this set up this weekend! @@QuestForGear
