FYI FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING TO BUY THIS SSD DO NOT buy it as Adata has again changed the controller and the drive just does not last. I have had it replaced twice in 6 months and now service center has offered me an alternate drive like Legend 960 instead of S70 due to countless issues reported to them. Adata isn't even keeping it in stock anymore here(India)

I own this drive myself. At the time I bought it, it was by far the fastest on paper for the price, and I’m glad to see it also performs well in all the benchmarks. Firmware updates are pretty hard to find for the drive though. They used to post firmware updates on the product page, but they pulled all the firmware when people started bricking their drives. I think people were trying to install the regular S70 firmware on the S70 Blade (they are different drives, S70 has 96L NAND, S70 Blade has 176L NAND) and bricked them, possibly because the firmware installer didn’t differentiate between S70 and S70 Blade. The ADATA SSD Toolbox app never says new firmware is available when checking either.

I just remembered to register mine maybe last week - no more than two weeks ago - and when I did and installed the toolbox I had no problem installing firmware version 3.2.F.66. Just now checked and the toolbox "check update" button returns a message saying that I'm on the latest firmware version after a few seconds. Is there something I should know?

This is why I stick with Samsung drives. They have Samsung magician software which automatically updates firmware, checks health, performance etc.

@@falldownandgoboom I have firmware 3.2.F.2A installed, you have 3.2.F.66 installed. Both our ADATA Toolboxes say that no new firmware is available. That shouldn’t even be possible. Clearly something is up.

I bought this back in January for my PS5. At the time it was by far the cheapest, the 2TB going for $250 around the time that comparable Samsung and WDs were going for $100 more. Not a single complaint. I'm using the heatsink/heatplate included and I haven't had a single issue with heat, either with the PS5 nor the drive itself. When I installed it, the PS5 rated it as something like 6700MB/s, and I can confirm it's at the very least as fast as the included drive. If you're in the US, I absolutely recommend this drive for anyone on the fence. Especially now that it's $200 for 2TB. It's an absolute steal at that price. I'm considering picking up a second one for my laptop.

@@TechTesters Trust takes a long time to gain and can be lost in a single moment. What ADATA did says all we need to know about them as a company - they were caught red-handed and now it will take a VERY long time for people to trust them again (if ever). I personally will never buy an SSD from them because of this, no matter how good the specs are - you can never be too sure they aren't going to pull a switcheroo on you again.

Prices have dropped A LOT. I got my 4TB S70 Blade for no less than 260€. And to think a year ago you could at best get 2TB for the same money. Currently in EU it shows as one of the cheapest 4TB gen4 models. I bought it for games and i figured i will lose some unnoticeable amount of performance going with S70 Blade instead of say 990 Pro 2TB (i have 1TB 990 Pro as system drive) considering the fact that games keep getting bigger and bigger, then 4TB will be more beneficial than a faster 2TB model.

I've had the 2TB model for the last 8 months, using it as my system drive, and have had no issues. I tested it in CrystalDiskMark when I got it and the speeds were close to as advertised. I just ran the ADATA SSD ToolBox software and it said that I've written 10TB in 8 months and the remaining lifetime is 99%. That suggests that, at my current rate, it should last about 66 years. So, I guess that I don't need to worry any more about writing too much to it.

Had to completely reinstall my OS - this time, Windows 11 (and it's so weird, by the way) - and all my software. Now I have to rebuild my Plex server when I get the replacement back. My Plex data was on a second and different XPG Gen 3 drive which I think has also failed since not all files are present it seems. That just happened to me when I downloaded their piece of ish app and tried to run a diagnostic test. Luckily my motherboard repaired the ssd when I rebooted PC for second time. Used Revo Uninstaller and wiped their BS app off my PC.

@@Jaykurosakii How your motherboard repaired the ssd ???
@Jaykurosakii
@Jaykurosakii 2 күн бұрын
@@dragoonxgamer well not motherboard, the ssd repaired itself on 2nd boot. At first, it would go straight into bios because my original boot order wasn’t selected. It showed MN-5236 in bios like you said. I shut down my pc while in bios. I’m not sure if this helped but I’ll bring it up. My Ethernet cable was disconnected during the first boot failure. I reconnected it, booted up again and my SSD started to repair itself until it reached 100%. I don’t remember exactly what it said.

I have gen3 slot..please suggest me should i go with Samsung 970evo plus or xpg gammix s70 blade..please reply..or would you recommend me best gen3 ssd to buy in today time..

On PCI-e gen 3 the 970 evo plus should be fine. Samsung are more stable drives. I had a S70 blade which started to fail after 4 months of light usage on a PC...And I read that many users experienced something similar.

I would recommend you to buy samsung 780 pro than s 70 because My XPG gaming X S 70 blade 2 Tb died after 3 months It won't boot and when i check it in the nvme configuration it shows as MN-5236 and disk size shoes 2.1 GB and sometimes when i remove the drive and install it again it shows S 70 Blade 2TB and when i run a device self test ( controllor only ) my bios freezes Also my nvme idles around a 50 C and the max reeding i have seen on hw monitor is 62 C Can it be because of temperature? What could be the cause of my problem How can i fix it Pls help 🙏 me

Bought it a year ago. It was working well in my Asus TUF Gaming notebook then it just stopped working. Windows now see's it as a 2GB drive it appears they are prone to controller failure and showing up as MN-5236. I will not be buying Adata again. I can't recommend it.

@@dragoonxgamerIt is the controller on it which is the problem ie. not heat related. It's bricked. You will need to RMA and rather buy another brand.

In India its only $78 for the 1tb variant with the heat spreader as well. which is priced way below the other 7000Mbps+ options across brands. is this a no brainer deal then? especially for the ps5 use only?
@WitcherThree-vz3dz
@WitcherThree-vz3dz Жыл бұрын
only the p3 plus specifically costs lower than this in India, but it doesn't meet the min specs for ps5(just in case), for the future.

Hi Nada! I was just re-watching this as I"d added this to my amazonian wish list and am really hoping holiday sales will come as they always have. I'm glad I checked b/c I had added the 980pro thinking it would be the fastest like our old ..870pro's? but yeahno hehe. I'm afraid people who aren't in the know will see Wang's charlatanism as the new way forward :( anyway, wanted to also remark I really liked your nail polish here, very pretty! :) thanks again!!
