I actually got one of those RTX 3090 VISION (sold as broken) for 130, but the previous owner had done some damaging repairs on it (they removed shorted Vcore DrMOS, which is quite typical fault), so it was quite challenging to try to recover the damaged PCB and it didn't work out. I was not even surprised it ended how it did due to low price they asked for it. But I did learn a lot during examining it so I know exactly how the circuit goes. For $100 I would send this in to Gigabyte and have them in house test and repair it. I have on more than a few occasions bought a GPU that was bad, sent it to the Manufacturer and had them do the repair. If I was you I would definitely shoot a message out to Northwest repair I'm sure you've either seen or heard of his channel on KZbin where he goes over different issues of cards that he was sent to repair and shows exactly what he does to fix them and all that. But you should at least message him and see if he has attempted to repair one of these cards with this issue and if so what that type of repair would cost you to get. Im currently troubleshooting one, i believe these cards also had power phase issues stemming from the A&O semi 9511/9512 as well as i believe they have defective capacitors on the supply rail. I've found that some of the MLCC capacitors have a moisture issue where they absorb moisture in the air and eventually short out. Im in the process of replacing mine now, i got the memory and core to recognize in windows, i can even run tasks on the card but there's no display output and after i reballed the memory and core i noticed some of the MLCC capacitors cracked due to built up moisure escaping as steam from the heat of the reflow.

Was on a Waitlist for over 9 months for my 3090, and paid $200 over retail fo the privilege to wait for 9 months. Card died less then 2 weeks later. Fans run full speed , black screen. Restart and all is well, temp was never out of line. Just in case got a NEW 1000 Watt Corsair PSU, and a day later card did the same thing. Put it in a different motherboard and the same thing again.. But this time reboot didn't solve. Just full-speed fans and a black screen from any port. Some forums saw several models had this issue and there was no repair. Waited 6 months for the Warranty, card was dead again in less than 3 weeks. Thankfully warranted again, but was 2 two-month wait. Moved up to a 4090 and the new-in-box 3090 is sitting on the shelf.. A friend had his fail too in the same way, both different brands. I was paranoid I had some hardware issues, but the 4090 has lasted for almost a year so I am thinking cards are issue.

@jarnovilen5259
@jarnovilen5259 Ай бұрын
Replacing the fuse takes only a few minutes but that MUST NOT be done before finding out the reason the fuse blew. The card may be easily fixable but if you just replace the fuse and there is for example a shorted MOSFET, shorted to the die that is, you will most probably just destroy the GPU. The GPU may well be still ok but the short has to be repaired before powering up the card. Replacing a defective MOSFET is an easy job for anyone with hot air station and skill to use it. The only problem is that the parts have to be ordered and it may take weeks.

I am an electrical engineer. That is an easy fix. Probably easier than a bios update overall.

Good to know! I just don’t have any experience so I didn’t want to attempt. Though I guess in hindsight would be an inexpensive way to get some of that experience built.

I doubt you understand electronics at all, since if you would, you would know that you CAN NOT diagnose the fault from a far. There are many possibilities for the short. It may even be the die itself and in that case the card is not fixable at all (at reasonable price).

No way at all. Thermal paste unless using liquid metal is non-conductive.

You need a better mic, or to move it further from your mouth. It's over modulating.

Thanks for the input. I’m still tinkering with tuning this one. I just got it a little while back. KZbin also does some strange things with the audio modulation after I upload. I’ll have it fixed in my next video

Appology or no appology, was it so difficult to check your camera during shooting? Awesome video ruined by unreadable Windows. Edit: Before saying :"This fuse" - while covering it from view by hands , you should first show the fuse or fuses in question. Edit 1.5: Hmmm,perhaps not that awesome video afterall Edit 1.75: It reminds me a bit about Verge's:How NOT to build a PC .

Guess what? I bought my 3060 from a shop and it is still working. Some people exist just to fool KZbinrs and make them believe that we care if they got scammed...

Well this wasn’t a planned scam at all. The seller stated it’s a faulty card. I knew they buying it. If you are interpreting this as “sympathy content” you are dead wrong. I was just hoping I could do something to fix it or at minimum provide content to people on some troubleshooting steps to try if they find themselves in the same situation.

no need to test all the display ports....if the fans are not spinning its dead...do a reflow of the gpu chip....the guy overclocked it so much probaly it got to hot
@jarnovilen5259
@jarnovilen5259 Ай бұрын
More likely that sagging causes it. But you CAN NOT properly reflow the GPU if you do not have the equipment. And reflow is not enough. You have to clean and reball it etc. It is not a job that can be done at home. But that is not even the case here. If the measurements were ok, there is most probably just a short somewhere. It moght be an MOSFET shorted to ground (a easy fix) or shorted GPU (a no fix).
