Lovely video, but just to note it is the Navajo Nation and Hopi people being hit hard now, not the Choctaw. Irish people are donating to the Navajo in honour and remembrance of the donation by the Choctaw. Prior to the pandemic there was also a scholarship program for Choctaw students to study in Ireland set up which continues today.

Thank you, i love your video that brings attention to this story, reminding people that kindness is important, more valuable than money, and is remembered and valued, and that we can help eachother even in these terrible times. In fact we find sometimes that we are measured by how we behave in these times and our humanity means more in these times. I am irish, i am proud of it and I often find myself giving when I dont have much to give, struggling with my paycheck but knowing that money has really no value at all. i am especially proud to be irish and crying in my beer reading about this article but even though few people really know the details, I hope to spread the word that referring to this event in Irish history as a famine would suggest there was a lack of food around. There was plenty food, this atrocious genocide was neither an act of nature or god but a man made consequence of the interference and occupation of the british empire. Records exist depicting ships heavy with cattle and other sources of food leaving ports in Ireland for england. Other food aid sent to Ireland was intercepted prior to reaching its destination. And other records have depicted that if one was not exposed to the situation, they would hardly be aware of the fate of the native people at all. The fact that our culture, language and land was stolen from us by our neighbours and our ability to express a measure of not forgiveness but tolerance shows our capacity of humanity that in my opinion speaks of people far superior than the mighty british empire, but that would sound arrogant, wouldnt it?and thats not a common trait of the irish people. Anyway, thanks again for your video, i thoroughly enjoyed it.
