Adding a cruise control system to the Toyota Tacoma has never been easier than with Rostra's Electronic Cruise Control part number 250-1836. In this video, our Technical Support specialists detail the installation of this unit onto a 2015 Toyota Tacoma that is pre-wired for cruise control functionality from the manufacturer but lacks the control switch necessary to operate this fuel-saving and comfort-adding feature.

How does one determine if truck has been prewired? What exactly does that mean? Does it simply mean a wire from dash cluster (lights up to indicate cruiz is on/off) runs to steering column where cruiz will be connected after removing air bag for access?

i have a 2008 tacoma double cab. my cruise control went off, i took it to a Toyota dealer to see how much ill cost me to repair it. they told me it will cost about 550 part and labor, they told me a need a new spiral wire i believe is called. i ask if it was difficult to replace of course they said yes, they told me it was because of the air bags. I would like to heard your advice if possible? thank you.

Do I need the wire harness for a 2010 Tacoma with automatic transmission? Is it a plug and play like this video shows?

I did my 2010 tacoma and was easy like the video showed. Only difference is don’t cut the ground wire like it shows. I had to unclip the original ground wire to install the cruise control because there was no other place to plug it in

how about for a 2.7 5 speed manual 4x4 2014 after watching this video I think it's prewired already.

Yup, but you will also need to order part number 250-4206 (clutch disengagement switch) to disengage the cruise control if/when you press the clutch pedal. You should have no problem using these components to add cruise control. Thanks for asking!

Mike Callahan Absolutely. We have seen some that are not pre-wired for cruise control from the factory, but our 250-1836 cruise control system includes the necessary harnesses to add this wiring between the driver-side kick panel and the connector underneath the steering column shroud when it is not present.
