Lukas A hole thru your desk isn’t simple or elegant. Routing out a small area underneath the surface of you desk in order to place a large wireless charging unit that you sourced for a great price on the other hand is simple and elegant in every way. You are an actual moron so you’re at least simple, not so elegant though.
@BlackPeagas5 жыл бұрын
@@erictheboringone5292 What he did was simply vulgar destroying the woodworking of the table. I would never in my life destroy my custom 2 piece L shaped desk like that. Making a punch through circle is like 10s job with the proper equipment and what actual wood workers do. It makes a clean and elegent hole. This diy solution is as elegent as hiding wall damage behind a painting. Nobody will most likely see it, but it is a vulgar destrction.

I am a woodworker and a plunge router was a good choice for this. Also free handing anything with a router is never easy. For precise shapes and lines you really need a hard edges guide/template for the routers base to glide against. You should make sure that charger supports 7.5W Qi if you want to fast charge your iphone. When a charger advertises 10W, most of the time it is referring to Samsung's 10W fast wireless charging, which is different from Qi. Samsung only supports the basic power profile of Qi, which is 5W. Anything above that is their proprietary wireless charging. So if the charger doesn't advertise that it can do 7.5W charging on iPhone, it won't. Even if it says it does 10W. Personally, I am fine with 5W wireless charging, as the point of wireless is more convenience rather than speed. If I really want speed that is what a 18W wired charger is for.

Great idea, much better than recessing a charger into the top side of your desk. I know you might not could care less but for anyone that does, if you use something like some scrap 1' x 2" lumber you could double sided tape them to the surface you are routing on and create a "fence" for your router to run along and router any shape perfectly for a cleaner hole in the surface then remove the "fence" when your done.

A glass table shouldn't be too bad because glass is pretty permissive of wireless charging and I can't imagine your glass is as thick as a ply board table. It might be unsightly though.
