I have been watching your videos for a few years, they are always greatly appreciated. Is it possible to have a hyperlink change to a visited state/change color once selected, so the user know they have selected the link? I am trying to to avoid having to make buttons, due to rework and user preference. Thank you!

Hi Paul.. I created hyperlink within the project jump from slide 1 to slide 8 and I created a back button at slide 8 to go back at slide 1..the issue is slide 1 starts from the begining instead of the Point where it left.. Don't want trainees to hear the same stuff again... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Rohit Khandelwal, you can store the exact frame from slide one in a temporary variable and then use that to return to the exact spot. Alternatively, you can write an advanced action to not play the audio on subsequent visits to slide one. If you still need help with this you can purchase an hour of time from my website for one-on-one instruction: bit.ly/Cp1on1

Hi Paul, is it possible through 'Find and Replace' (Ctrl + F), or another means, to search for a word, for example, word 'Learn,' and turn that word, throughout the entire project, into a hyperlink to a slide. For example, if the word 'Learn' appears 1000 times through the project, it automatically creates 1000 word hyperlinks to a selected slide.

Hi Paul, am enjoying your tutorials. I have a question regarding the insertion of a document (10:32) as a hyperlink. If this doc is only available in my internal files, and if i link to it, will be it available to external viewers? Or would it be better to create a URL for this doc and then link to it? thanks!
@CaptivateTeacher7 жыл бұрын
instead of a full URL just put the file name in the field. Once you publish just drag the file into your published zip folder and that will work fine

Is text to text linking is possible in Captivate 2017? Suppose I am at slide 4 and I want to give a link. When I will click that link it will take me to slide 2 and a particular line will be highlighted. I have achieved this by using hyperlink and execute advanced actions Is this a only way to do this ?
@CaptivateTeacher7 жыл бұрын
amey gaikwad Advanced actions are required when you need two or more actions run, or if a condition needs to be met. Jumping to a slide and highlighting the term would be two actions.

Paul is there a way to insert a hyperlink into a video demo captivate project? The types of media and interactions seem to be limited and I cannot find a way to enter hyperlinks or buttons that can allow users to click.
@CaptivateTeacher8 жыл бұрын
The intention of video demos is to create videos where interactive stuff couldn't be used. However!...Once you record your video demo save it as a file to your desktop or wherever you like. Then create another regular Adobe Captivate project with all the interactive stuff you want including questions slides, knowledge checks slides with buttons and so on. Then import your video demo file as a single slide somewhere in your regular eLearning project. Users will get to watch it your video demos and then transition to other eLearning content by just progressing to the next slide. Just make sure your record your video demo at the same resolution as all your other eLearning content otherwise it will be weird. To import a video demo into another Captivate project... 1. Click the *Insert* drop down menu 2. Select *CPVC Slide* 3. Navigate to where you saved your video demo and select it 4. Click *OPEN* Hope that helps.

Hi Paul, so if I want to avoid using a button (for aesthetic reasons), and stick to the highlighted part of a text to offer the URL-link, then how can I in that case also avoid that the current project continues? (I started using buttons just to get to that option '(dis)continue current project' but just a hyperlink is really what I want (what the user expects). Best regards, Wim.
@CaptivateTeacher6 жыл бұрын
Most cases you need some type of click object to pause the project on each slide. Otherwise, the project will just continue away in the background as users visit the URL. Try adding a click box to each slide. This will prevent slides from progressing to the next slide automatically.

Great tutorial and overview as always Paul. Is it not possible to create a hyperlink (for text) in a multi-state view? Essentially, I want to add a hyperlink in only one of my states. I notice that the hyperlink button (under style) is not available under a specific state but is for the Normal state.
@CaptivateTeacher9 жыл бұрын
+Jason M. Herman That's correct. You can only attach hyperlinks to one state of an object, however in a paragraph of text you could make more than one hyperlink with different words linking to different links (if that helps).

Hi Paul, Great tutorial as always. I'm currently working on a project for an organisation that uses Cisco Jabber as a messaging tool. I've setup a dedicated chat room which, has its own dedicated hyperlink address. What I would like staff to be able to do, is at any point during their learning, engage with a member of the training team via the dedicated chatroom by simply clicking the jabber Icon graphic (Set to Use as Button) at which point Jabber is launched via the open URL or File link I have, allowing staff to engage with all members of the training team via a chat window - learner messages all training staff team receive across all devices regardless of location. Now it works perfectly every time in Microsoft Outlook as a hyperlink, so I thought it would work here in Captivate too. Can you advise please? Any help greatly appreciated. I understand this may prove difficult due to their being no publicly available chat service for you to test this link on. I have tried the above method in your tutorial e.g. Graphic Use as Button - Open URL or File, which didn't work in preview mode. I can only think that I may need to publish the finished file for it to work properly, as opposed to my just previewing the project (Preview from this slide). Many thanks in advance Paul

I ran into this a lot when I worked in a corporate environment. I suspect its one of two things or both. Even though a Captivate course might me running in a corporate approved browser, All requests to open a new URL treat your Captivate course like its a browser itself. This becomes problematic for sometimes two IT systems. 1. Single Sign-on and 2. Firewalls, or both. In the case of single sign-on, a new unauthorized browser would not have access to your corporate credentials when attempting to access shared drives or company intranets and other pre-approved network resources. You may need to work closely with the corporate IT department to find a solution

Also try this as well. This method of using JavaScript to open a web address is a little different in that it isn’t attempting to open a new browser in Captivate but run JavaScript in the current browser window. I haven’t tested under your circumstances but it might work. If so please let me know because I could use this solution for more than originally intended if it does solve this problem. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJfQZYFqn7mfqbc

Hey Paul, OK it was how I had configured the button. Using the insert image and make button option didnt work. However, using the Interaction | Button Image | States View then attaching Open URL or File ... did work. I will still use your Javascript option though as I have multiple PDF Files I'd like staff to be able to access as Resources during their learning experience. Thanks for your help Paul really appreciate it. Sincerely yours. Mark Jones
