I call it the pressure cooker. Top heavy is a solid game and think about BBQ'ing. You're slow cooking all day ;)

I can confirm this. Something similar happened to me earlier this week. Was really tired by the end of class after some hard rounds and tons of cardio for warm ups and rolled with this little guy, let my guard down due to the size difference (I must have almost 60 pounds on the guy) and he got my back with the grapevines. Legit could not get him off, I would power up to turtle with him on my back and he would squash me back down with the grapevines and made me gas out even quicker. This dude was so quiet if this was the first time we sparred, I was not ready for that lmao *Do not measure a Man using only your eyes and ears when inside the world of Grappling.*

I was taught the mount control as a white belt and it has been one of my primary control methods in the mount 8 years after. I was taught to me as a position that resembles a free fall or a skydiver position.

I need to start working on this more, I’m a purple belt but lately I’ve been trying to find ways to chain my different positions together quickly. But I could definitely spend some time camped out cooking some dudes

I developed this in early blue and was told that I had incredible pressure by my professor, who also asked me to start letting others work, too... and suggested saving it for upper belts 😊 Edit: I was embarrassed, not proud.

Top pressure is all about finding a way to push with your toes and hips positioning. An old video from the Mendes brother was explaining

These are some great tips, however; the bigger problem is when rolling with a black belt. Getting past their guard to get to side, control, or mount is almost impossible as a white belt

Sure, but beating a black belt as a white belt wasn't the focus of the video.

I don't know if I can explain this without showing it. But if you bring your shoulder from under the chin, then up and across. Instead of coming straight across, it is extremely brutal. I was shown this a few months back, and it takes that shoulder pressure to a different level.

Considering the unwritten rule "punch a black belt once and he becomes a brown belt", I am convinced all it takes is 3 good punches to the face. Onto the next question!
