Hi Chuck! My question is: How do you know when your slope and pitch are right? Or, when you’re digging, how do you dig keeping the pitch in mind? I’ve dug a few drainage trenches and it always seems like I end up with standing water in various places. Then I need to go back and tweak those spots so that the water runs as it should. It would be nice if I could just dig it right the first time. Maybe that just comes with experience? A video covering the issue of pitch and slope would really help me out! Thank you, Bill Hughey

Check out french drain man's videos. He has videos about pitch. Im currently digging a trench and was so darn confused on this matter. He had a good point if its level, you are doing good because take a glass of water and turn it sideways, the water will empty. Of course you want some slope and check out the videos on how to measure it.

Any way you can make a video on what to do with a AC drip line that is on the outside of a house. I have one and it drips so much that it created a nasty puddle. I unfortunately have rocky, clay soil here in Texas so there is absolutely no drainage for the soil. I have dug 12x12x12 hole for the water to sit in and drainage but the hole fills up within a day before it floods the yard again. With how much it drips and over flows I was thinking about using a sump pump and routing a pipe to have it wash away behind my fence into a field. Or just down my driveway.

@@appledrains oh yes I saw this video, but won’t the catch basin just fill up eventually and pour out the top???? The ac drip line is on the side of the house where very little sun gets to it so evaporation does not occur fast enough. If it didn’t work in a natural hole in the ground, why would it work in a catch basin where it doesn’t soak in the ground? Therefore making it a slower process of getting rid of the water!

@@appledrains I understand, I did watch the video, but I don’t have any existing catch basins or anything of that nature connected to a drain line of sorts. If I connect a pipe from the ac line to a catch basin, where does the water go once it reaches the catch basin? Maybe I’m just misunderstanding the concept.

@@appledrains I figured you didn’t know how it worked. There are others in the neighborhood that have had a professional install a catch basin and drain pipe and the water overflows due to the lack of drainage at the basin. The water can’t drain to nothing, therefore creating an overflow in the basin. Seriously Did you read at all of what I said in the previous comment?

NEED A BIT OF HELP HERE DOWNUNDER... I am currently (slowly) doing the footing drainage the way u recommend, However 3 aussie plumbers have told me I am making a big mistake by not burrito wrapping the whole void which is pretty big. I am using a 90mm pvc with holes I drilled myself (8mm) 20mm blue metal, have painted walls with 2 coats of tar sealant then used 3mm thick pipet plastic sheets to cover the paint, so not to damage membrane, however the other side is clay & i am in a confused mind plumbers here say the clay will get wet & slowly push into the rocks therefore moving the clay and foundation another said put green shade cloth so the clay wont have an easy time to pass through others say use a thicker membrane??????? HELP PLEASE

1st take the plastic off the wall. 2nd use you shade cloth to cover your stone 3rd use lots of gravel to back fill 4th your done

@@appledrains thanks for reply ....the plastic is a special pipet style 3 & half mm thick ,I am using it so the rocks don't damage the tar moister resistant paint as I was told sometimes the rocks scrap the paint off in time as paint gets old??
