I see a few comments here about just tapping off the existing push button using a simple momentary switch connection. Yes that would work, however if someone holds it down too long it will go into flash-mode with no way to reset it back to factory settings. So its ok if you're the only one going to use it or in case of an emergency situation (that is a rare event) but its a bit risky in the open environment. There is some circuitry that you can add to interrupt the hold down but this approach is a little hardier and would blend into typical household décor.

Yes, you are absolutely right. E77 module prevents it from entering into the flash mode and yet provides the manual switch control quite nicely.

If your already soldering 3 pins to the board...... your might as well solder the 4th pin to it and flash tasmota (it's really not that complicated as one might think) to the device so that when you are done the tasmota is still in tact without any extra hardware attached. Tasmota has also the option to listen to state changes of a switch.... so you can use a regular switch and are still able to switch it remotely. You can even use a momentary switch to only switch the relay when you hold the button and switch off when you release (have not found a use for it myself, but it's possible!). Using this expensive option means when you want to change the behavior of the sonoff you will have to unsolder the board... the method above is over complicated. Besides.. there is a reason why there is a gap/slid in the sonoff board where you place the module... it keeps the live and neutral tracks separated, placing this board on top of it could potentially be a fire hazard... do not use. Besides, on many occasions the ewee link servers are offline or the sonoff's just cannot reach them.

You could have a look at Home Assistant which gives much more control than ewelink. I enjoyed the video by the way and learnt something. Personally, i would just pay a bit extra for a shelly or something where someone else has effectively done this for me though.

Root of the problem is bloody Sonoff not providing a NC contact on its relay (to safe costs of course, low budget). If only they had done a little more thinking, it would have avoided so much trouble! Your solution is okay, but you still make yourself dependant on electronics and as you know a simple lightning strike will kill it and your way of switching on a simple light. Therefor I think it's better to either replace the relay of a Sonoff by a type that has NO and NC contacts, so combining it with an existing switch is no trouble and even a failing relay and or electronics will still leave you to switch on the light manually! OR just add a simple second relay that has NO and NC contacts, operated by the Sonoff, and therefor giving you back full manual control with any existing (3-pole) switch. I wonder if Sonoff is short for Son-of-a-bitch? :-) or rather; Son-off-a-switch!

Single core, solid wire for connecting module to Sonoff board. Can cut and use the legs of any resistor or capacitor. For connecting wall switch, can use 2 core shielded copper wire.

You can flash with Ewelink back after flash with Tasmota but you need to back up to the original firmware that is unique to every device. So the flash process is not irreversible.

It works with regular switch only. 2 way switch is not required. Whenever you change the state of the switch, it will toggle the output. So if switch is already in ON position and you turn OFF the load from mobile App, then the next time when you change the switch position, it will turn ON the load.

Its very easy. Simply disconnect all wires (from the wall switch that you are going to use) and connect the two wall switch wires coming from the module to your wall switch terminals. Thats it. No other wire from your switch board to be connected to wall switch. Do let me know if this helps you.

This is a lengthy and expensive route that doubles the cost of the Sonoff switch. The author should honestly state that the easier way is to wire an external switch directly between GND and GPIO14. Presto, your existing wall switch is able to change state and toggle the Sonoff between On and Off states. OR just go ahead and purchase a Sonoff Mini that has an external switch connector.

There is problem with your circuit design. If you switch on or off form app it's status won't be reflected on switch position and user will get connected confused even on which switch is for what point because user will find load is on even though switch is off and vice versa.

Yes, you can do that but in that case you will have to change all the wall switches (where sonoff's are installed) in your house with doorbell switches which would not look good. Also if someone long presses the doorbell button, the sonoff will get resetted and you will have to configure it again. The sole purpose of this module is to use our existing wall switches and avoid the accidental sonoff reset. Thanks

Yes, you can do that but in that case you will have to change all the wall switches (where sonoff's are installed) in your house with doorbell switches which would not look good. Also if someone long presses the doorbell button, the sonoff will get resetted and you will have to configure it again. The sole purpose of this module is to use our existing wall switches and avoid the accidental sonoff reset. Thanks

I dont get why people making a fuss, just put switch between L-out of sonoff and lamp that way when switch is off there is no way light will turn on

But this way you are making a smart switch dumb again. If you turn that switch off, how will you turn on the lamp from phone app ?

Simply extend two wires from the touch switch to the wall switch. No need to buy this module

or simply use bell button instead of regular one. which gives you plus feature to pair with other wifi access point in future. without popping out the case. but it also make you vulnerable outside, you can use it inside like as, BELL SWITCH EVERYWHERE. xD.

Sonoff sells a wall switch. This process is not worth the time.

Yes, but they are touch ones. This hack is for sonoff basic and similar switches that can hide inside the existing electric switch panel.
