Man this was an awesome video. I am a huge flip flop fan because i have big very very extremely wide feet sz15 6E wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My foot outgrew shoes , socks , boots when i was 18 years old and flip flops is the only footwear that will barely and i mean barely fit my foot because of my toes being wider than the flip flops straps. I like this strap design. I do a lot of kayaking & i have to kayak Barefooted 👣 style because of my toes being extremely wide. With this strap design I will be able to wear my flip flops in the water and not lose them in the water cuz I have lost a pair of flip flops before & because of me having big extremely wide feet I have to special-order these flip-flops I wear & it take a weeks for them to come in which means I'm barefooted 👣 for a week until they come in which I don't mind being barefooted 👣 because I'm 95% barefooted 👣 anyway. This was a good video thank you for sharing.

Have you tried any of the barefoot sandal brands? Barefoot sandals are made foot shaped so they are naturally wider. A few of the brands like Shamma, Xero and Luna have KZbin channels so you can check out their products. Channels like Anya’s Reviews and Josh’s Barefoot Shoes reviews also go over a wide variety of brands to help you make a decision based on price, foot volume, and style. I think some of the brands will even make custom sandals or you can also buy a barefoot sandal making kit from Xero Shoes.

If you add more lines of cord to make a wider braid is the weaving very different? I have a pair that the section between the toes broke, so I put a cow hitch around the top strap pushed it through and sealed it on the bottom. That was over eight years ago and I still wear them today.

Any idea what system of knots I could apply to use an overhead beam as an adjustable bike maintainence stand? I would like to be able to adjust the height and angle of the bike and perhaps even turn it upside down without having to untie and retie everything, though that may be overcompliating it. I imagine it would need two knots on the bike frame and an adjustable knot like a portugese bowline up top that would let me adjust the length of each lower loop. Portugese bowline doesn't seem to have enough friction to hold a heavy off-centre weight though. I will be using old 11mm abseiling rope as that is what's lying around in the shed. Any suggestions from more accomplished knotters than myself are gratefully appreciated.
@bipedalbob
@bipedalbob 2 жыл бұрын
A prussic knot would do it, But being able to turn it upside down with out retying, it wouldn't. I have actually tried this my self for the same purpose, so I know it works. However trying to work on a bike that keeps moving around, swinging, is a bit of a pain in the ass
@KayakingVince
@KayakingVince 2 жыл бұрын
Where would the prussic loop go? On the round metal beam instead of the Portuguese bowline or on the bike frame? Sorry, I'm falling to visualise your suggestion properly. Inverting the bike isn't as important as being able to have it stable at an easily adjustable height and angle so can be ignored.

Are you still filling orders through your AwesomeForSale site? I sent a couple messages a few weeks ago and never got any response. I'm interested in purchasing several items, but everything is from several years ago and I haven't noticed any recent posts referencing the store. I want to make sure you're still open for business before I place an order through the site.

Any ideas what's the best way to tie down a tablecloth on to a table outside?
@StoneE4
@StoneE4 2 жыл бұрын
Off the top of my head, how about putting grommets in all four corners of the tablecloth and tying a truckers hitch between the two diagonally opposing corners underneath the table? Instead of grommets you could use the old tarp trick of wrapping a small stone in the corner of the tablecloth and then tying a knot over the top of it. Meh... I'm sure First Class Amateur will come up with a more elegant solution.

Some good marlinspike seamanship there! The only thing I'd change would be to use cotton cord rather than plastic. There's way too much plastic in the world and it all ends up in our waterways or landfills eventually. Yea, the cotton won't last as long, but that's kind of the point. If you have to replace the cotton line every season, where's the harm in that? It'll just rot away to nothing and that's exactly what you want. Plastic sandals don't last very long either, so maybe think about making the entire thing out of hemp or manila rope and some cotton line for the straps. With a hint of Stockholm tar to help with waterproofing, you'll have a dandy bit of footwear everyone could be proud to call their own!
@michaw7408

I'm a very frugal person. I'd rather have a sturdy plastic pair of those straps that will outlive my flipflops than to buy more natural rope each season to make a new pair.
@threeriversforge1997
@threeriversforge1997 2 жыл бұрын
@@michaw7408 Is that really being frugal, though? Tarred Marline has been used for ages on seafaring ships and nary a problem. Plastic hasn't been around for even a century and is causing huge issues that will last for ages. Considering how quickly you can make the straps and how economical the cotton twine is, not using the organic alternative seems to have the greater cost in the long run. What is the true cost of manufacturing those plastic slippers? While braided straps made from plastic rope will last a lifetime, the slippers themselves will wear out rather quickly. Even now, we see studies showing that "micro plastics" are getting into our food chain because of all the plastic that's getting into our waterways. How will that pan out in the years to come? And all for the cost of what? $30 for a roll of Tarred Marline or Tarred Cotton, enough to last you a lifetime, and which rots away to nothing when you're done with it? A few minutes making new straps, maybe trying a new weave pattern? Seems to me that the costs are pretty high for such a frivolity.

@@bluejar5614 Civilization exists since more than 5000 years ago, and plastics are only a backbone since what, 50 years ago? They're convenient and cheap, but they don't degrade and that's a problem, we abuse plastics for a lot of tasks that could be fulfilled by cardboard, glass, wood...
