I have watched your previous LIMES videos but never commented until now. What a great technique to approach card making. I’ve been a stamper 24+ years. This is refreshing so you are to be commended! Oh the introduction!! I laughed out loud. I JUST received a package with some stuff that I know that I really wanted, but can’t for the life of me remember what I was going to make with them!! Edited to add: as a fellow Canadian, stuff takes soooo long to get to us it just amplifies this issue. I can’t always remember where my glasses from ten minutes ago are, let alone why I ordered a stamp or die a month ago.

To me what really makes both Jessica’s and your Christmas bulb card sing is the Copic coloring. Your poinsettia and joy cards were good but in a side by side comparison with Jessica’s cone flower card, the color of the ink blended cards was quieter, less zingy. But I don’t think the duller colors was due to technique or your skill, I think it’s the inks. I don’t know the specific chemistry of Copic ink, but there is this quality to Copic ink that makes it magical on video. Copic ink looks better on video or on a monitor than it looks with the naked eye. There is something about how the ink reflects light that causes a difference in the way a camera photographs the color. Most water based dye inks look better in person than they do in a photo. There’s more vibrancy and richness with the naked eye. It’s like those inks absorb more light than they reflect, but it is more specific to the way a camera processes light reflection versus how the human eye and brain process light reflection. Copic ink was created with photocopying in mind so maybe that’s why it looks so much better than other dye inks in video. It would be interesting to see how your other cards would look if the dye blended elements were colored with Copics instead, especially the word “JOY”.
