VDO.ninja (formerly known as OBS.ninja) is a quick and easy way to add live video into your OBS production from a smartphone, a tablet or a remote computer. VDO.ninja is totally free and available as a free web service but it can also be customized and deployed on your own private server. The nice thing about VDO.ninja is that it has been designed around the OBS use case and has great documentation on how to use it to bring remote guests into your OBS production. The technology behind VDO.ninja is called WebRTC which is a free and open-source standard for online communications.
To get started you can visit VDO.ninja and Create a Room. When you are creating a room you can decide if you would like the guests to only see the director's video or if you would like the director to appear in scenes. Once you have created the room you will be given a link to invite guests. You will notice the developers have created over 30 ways to customize the guest experience including a pro-audio mode, 1080p 60fps video mode, low-CPU broadcast mode and much more.
While many people may use VDO.ninja to bring in remote guests into their production, the solution can be used for simple IP video solutions such as connecting the video from a smartphone into your OBS production. Here is a short list of use cases.

I've been up for HOURS searching for a simple video for how to add guest to ABS, and I must say, your channel has far less subscribers than it should, GREAT AND SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS!!! I can add a guest to my FB Live podcast through OBS, but my guests don't see me. Do I need to somehow dedicate my own camera to VDO Ninja and copy the entire thing somehow to a scene in OBS and do everything from VDO Ninja? Not sure how to do this. Very new to all of this.

So I did the exact same thing, instead all that shows up is JOIN ROOM WITH CAMERA and SCREENSHARE WITH ROOM buttons instead of the room

The video transmitted is poor - bitrate/compression needs to be better. Do you have a better method for doing this?

I think when you have your KZbin account connected, there's a way to toggle the chat on in OBS.

How is the image and sound quality with VDO.Ninja compared to a Zoom or Skype call?

That's a good question. Skype has traditionally been better than Zoom but Zoom has gotten a lot better and you can enable HD. VDO.Ninja gives you a whole lot more flexibility and control over the video. So, without doing a side-by-side comparison, my guess is VDO.Ninja has the best quality.

@@StreamGeeks Have you heard anything about the PayPal issue being reported by one of these comments? They say the application is trying to open PayPal without permission on guest phones? Did they get hacked or is the company being shady?

@@StreamGeeks Thank you for your fast response. On my phone the other individual who says they experienced this had the top comment on the video. They said they used it for a long time but suddenly this behavior started happening. I wonder if the company or their site might be under attack by malware. Only one way to find out lol. I’ll have to test it out myself.

Interesting. We have had a lot of problems keeping the video synced to the audio with NDI from Skype. Managed to fix it but now my CPU load is too high while gaming and running obs and Skype in the back. Oh well. Guess it is time for a bigger cpu 😂

Great vid. I've been using Skype for my live podcasts but I'll happily switch to VDO Ninja if it could do this one thing. Does VDO Ninja allow me to record multiple guests audio channels individually within OBS? No matter how many guests I have using Skype, all guest audio channels are grouped into a single channel. Be careful with VDO ninja now. It used to be fine but now it randomly opens up my Paypal app on my phone automatically. All I'm saying is I'm glad I wasn't signed in or else who knows what it would've tried to do.

Does it do it every time? Is there a donation checkbox somewhere? A lot of freeware sometimes has annoying donation pop ups. I wonder if it’s them, if there’s a setting that you need to turn off, or if they got hacked.

@@ghost-user559 I use it on my galaxy s5 and it's basically barebones on there. Literally just 4 options "Screen, front camera, back camera, and screen + Camera" There's no settings or options on the app. The only thing you can customize is the url to copy into OBS. I uninstalled Paypal just to be safe. It only started doing it a couple days ago and it launched Paypal every time after a few minutes of being on. After uninstalling Paypal, it stopped.
