Here we have another car, this time an autorack to use to demonstrate several different techniques for weathering.

Wow it looks beautiful in a way even if it is rusty and graffitied, it's a realistic piece of art

IMO this is in the top 5 of the great videos you have produced. I have cleaned and prepped for 3 autoracks and have watched this for at least the third time. Thank you for such a great tutorial

Amazing work! I enjoyed the voiceover explanation style of this video a lot. When you showed the final product I at first thought it was your reference picture :D the result is very convincing. Take care!

Glad you liked it man! I will try to make more videos in this style from now on. Trying to clip video segments with me speaking over the live work is getting to be a pain. This was WAY easier to produce.

Man if panzermeister says it’s good than it’s really good. Love the way u do graffiti Dan. I hope there is more of it to come

Photographing in natural light gives that extra little lift that makes a great model look like the real thing.

Awesome work as usual also really loved the new voiceover style video it flows better and just looks cleaner over all keep up the good work

I’ll second that. The modeling work is awesome as usual, but you’ve definitely stepped up your video production game. Keep ‘em coming. How’s the layout progressing?

Dan as always a great presentation. Your video productions showing your techniques, which are excellent to begin with, improve with each video. Look forward to a video on weathering well cars and a flat car deck (made of plastic)

I'm surprised he's never done a well car video. Maybe because he doesn't want to run them on his own layout?

Try Mission Models paints. They work very well for fading!

what type of thinner do you use for the oil paints? I have turpenoid and it's not mixing well with the paint, also when i paint it on i have too much of a brush stroke going on. What am I doing wrong?
@ralphrenzetti222 жыл бұрын
Is the car finished? What about the ladders, there would be chipped paint on the rungs etc!

A hair dryer works great and speeds up the weathering. It would be interesting if IMR could put vehicle inserts inside the cars.
@Panzermeister363 жыл бұрын
I agree. Careful use of a hairdryer can really help speed up oil paint drying times. Just don't melt the model :)

I haven’t weathered none of my auto racks yet I need to tho

Outstanding. Do you seal your powder work? If so, how do you keep the dull coat from making the powders basically disappear
@beeble20033 ай бұрын
He's said in other videos that he doesn't seal his powder, for exactly that reason.
@brfriedm3 жыл бұрын
Wonderful work as always. Question - What paint did u use to fade the rack in the beginning? You said it was white. Which brand of white and what percentage did u dilute? You airbrushed this on. Thanks.
@beeble20033 ай бұрын
It's just craft acrylic. He normally uses Anita's, but the actual brand doesn't matter. It's diluted with 70% isopropyl alcohol to what he usually describes as a skimmed-milk consistency -- a dab of paint and about a teaspoon of alcohol works for me.

@12:38 where can I find the sponge and all I have is black paint and black powder.
@beeble20033 ай бұрын
Just buy cosmetic sponges from your local pharmacy or favourite online retailer. They come vacuum packed, looking really weird. 😀

Hay un error/Omision en la comparación, las carreras son distintas, esto sirve para cilindradas iguales
@ralphrenzetti222 жыл бұрын
Apply the grime with an airbrush is not a wash!
@DansRailroad20112 жыл бұрын
You are right, I use the term in the sense that the thinned paint resembled a wash.

My toxic trait is thinking i can achieve this in one sitting....
