THANK YOU. Margaret. You are such an inspiration. I started making Addi hats last year. I made them while watching tv with my family. Working with United Way, I located 3 local charities and donated 140 hats to local shelters. Appreciate new ideas for designs.

Margaret, another great idea! I am very lazy and always in a hurry to finish, so I keep a long tail when I tie my ends on hats and scarves. I leave them about 10" long and then use them to tie the pom-poms on. I take the two ties from the pom-pom and the one from the hat and tie tightly together. Then I cut the two from the pom-pom the length of the ball I made, so it's now part of the pom. The scarf color (if different) gets hidden like you do it. I also, when making a reversable hat, take the gathering string of one end and put it through the other end...then I tie them together on the outside. It makes sure that the ends are actually centered together. Before I did it that way, sometimes I missed! I love your black and white together....gonna do that! Thanks so much and God bless you!

Hi Margaret! I enjoyed seeing the knitting machine at work and loved the results! I think it would be so fun to knit a hat with a giant fur pom pom, but I don’t think I’d get much of a chance to wear it here in Arizona. I can’t imagine you’re getting a lot of use out of your beautiful hat and scarf where you are either. Fingers crossed for cooler weather or a road trip up north! Have a great day!

Hi Margaret, I really enjoyed this video. I think you are a wonderful teacher! I have never used a knitting machine and wondered what it would be like and if I could do it. I crochet a lot, but do have arthritis in both hands that can sometimes be bothersome.. This might be a good way to continue working with yarn. I enjoyed the whole process and thank you for making this video!

Hi Margaret! I ran across this tutorial today. Being new to the Addi, I found it informative and as always, a good tutorial. Just a little FYI. I heard you say there are plenty videos on KZbin about how to fix dropped stitches. While this may be true, they may not all be good or easy to follow or understand. Also, (and I admit, I am one) some people are more comfortable with certain peoples voices. You have a calm voice. That's a good thing for a tutorial. So....just because there's a video out there, it's not yours, so make your own. Your subscribers will appreciate it!

What a lovely compliment to wake up to this morning! Thank you, Mellody! I DO make videos about things that are already available IF I feel I have something helpful to add. This is only a hobby for me... not a job... so I have to factor in the time aspect. To make a quality tutorial, there are hours and hours invested: planning, completing the actual project WHILE filming and often re-shooting from different angles and then the editing. Whew!

@@sheepishlysharing - So far, so good. I started that night, but after I thought I was done I realized it wasn't long enough so I wound it all back into cakes and started over. Then I got past a few rows and realized that I didn't add the new yarn in properly and had to weave the stitches back up to the top. But I learned as I went. I had to keep coming back to the part where you added your new yarn so I'd get it right haha. It's working like a charm, though. I'm halfway through a hat, winding when I get a break from other chores. : ) Mine is the one with the clicking counter. I didn't realize there were two different types, but I'd rather have that type than the digital type anyway.

Hi Margaret, thanks for this video. They look so similar to the Kate Spade versions! The Addi machines fascinate me, and your channel is the first place I've seen them being used. I'm a hand-knitter (I have a few tutorials on my channel Knitkatpaddywhack) and have never tried using a knitting machine, but these small ones you use look so efficient, yet still hands-on! Also thanks for sharing how you do removable pom poms on hats - that's a great idea :) . Have you tried many store-bought pom poms makers? Why are the Clover ones your favourite? Many thanks from Australia xx
@sheepishlysharing6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Re: the pom makers, I don't care for the Boye brand ones that are half circles. They're awkward to work with. The Susan Bates version has 2 half circles that you put together after wrapping. That process is awfully fiddly as you have to fit the 2 halves into clip-like hooks on each end. All the cardboard DIY ones have never yielded good results for me (I think it's a learned skill) but I could hit the ground running with the Clover ones! However, I don't think it's important to get the name brand ones... the coypcats look just as good!
@Knitkatpaddywhack6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I've only ever used cardboard circles or the fork trick for small pom poms, but I'm not great at making pom poms either. Maybe I'll give a pom pom maker a try!

@sheepishlysharing3 жыл бұрын
Well, as I said in the video, I don't count rows! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmqqdpeomst8qaM Start there to see how I manage this. besides, I stopped sharing row counts years ago when we figured out that it wasn't always helpful! Tension applied by the user and the yarn choice affects the sizing so row counts aren't accurate. You can learn more about that in this video: Addi Express FAQs, Tips, Explanations! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqKQZ2qtqNmKpbM

I have trouble with the threads dropping off the teeth to the right of the weaving part. Is that a tension problem?
@sheepishlysharing2 жыл бұрын
Sort of. That's what we call a "tucked stitch" and it's more of a yarn problem that can be improved with added tension. However, it totally depends on the yarn as to how much tension will alleviate the problem. In my Addi playlist, you'll see a "Beginner Tips" video that will explain some options to try: Addi Playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2 and there's also this one to try if the yarn is particularly stubborn: Make that Yarn Work on Your Machine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYKZqpqrlsZ7d6c
