Hey! This week I have a special guest on the show, so we can talk about what it's like to be heavily tattooed in our twenties, plus we explore some of the taboos that come with getting so many tattoos at a young age, and the questions we most frequently get asked. Jac P Same reason for my modification like I didn't pick my body and that whole "Love what you're given" is so dumb personally when we have the power to become what we love I have so many features from my parents they aren't truly MINE so I enjoy using tattoos and piercings to kinda make my body truly my own

I don't get why people hate on tattoos like tattoos are expensive they shouldn't be taking shit when our disposable income is so huge My hand and forearm alone is gonna cost almost $1200 for how overly detailed I want it with a full hand done with realistic shading I'm not in debt my bills are paid and that money is just sitting around so might as well put it towards an investment I'll have for the rest of my life

Why are people correcting you for saying you're "heavily" tattooed? It's a bit subjective. I think what one considers to be a lot, or a little, varies from person to person so you can't really be "wrong".

Lizzi Anne I agree to some degree. Although I have trouble keeping track of counting because of my sleeve. When does one tattoo break off and become another when your whole arm is covered? Ya know?

True, but i think a sleeve can still be considered heavily tattooed, even if you got it all at once or with the intention of having it all one piece. Or if it slow became one. I personally view it as heavily tattooed but it's up to every one. I think it always depends on how big they are because like 10 big AF pieces could be heavily, where as w/smaller ones you might need like 20+ to be

I agree to a point like if they are all visible to you tattoos then that's one thing but like I only have 3 tattoos and one of them is on my shoulder blade so it takes an effort for me to see it and I forget I have it all the time so I almost always say 2 right off the bat. So long story short I am no where close to heavily tattooed but I constantly forget how many I have.

I am heavily tattooed and I'm a first grade teacher.....so jobs aren't an excuse not to get tattooed any more...i just wear jeans and a long sleeve, collared shirt...not hard...when I get facial tattoos i'll use concealer.

There is always going to be people who will look down on you for having tattoos or for spending money on them because they don't understand. I don't understand how someone can pay 3000 dollars for a purse but thats fine. You don't have to agree or understand peoples decisions in order to respect them

You talking about older people getting tattooed reminded me my mother and I got out first tattoo together when I was 17 and she was 42. She now has 4 tattoos one of which she got in Scotland. Her reasoning was job security. She always wanted a tattoo but was too afraid until she was a tenured professor. Yet she's still supportive of my tattoos and age which is really cool.

I just turned 18 last month and i'm going on my third tattoo. I can honestly say that I am so in love with art on body in general. I feel like tattoos are just another way to express myself and no one should ever be shamed for it. I'm barely starting, but I am honestly looking forward to the tattoos I am going to be getting for the next years of my life. I appreciate you and your channel, love you!

Heavily tattooed is so relative. To me, if you have a whole extremity tattooed or even the equivalent, that's pretty heavy.

I recently got my first visible, "real" tattoo. Im really happy with it and I already want another one. Your tattoo talk Tuesday videos really helped me make a decision about whether or not I really wanted it, and helped with tattoo etiquette as a person who has very little experience in the tattoo world. Lots of good points in here ladies, enjoyed hearing your perspectives! When people get all bent out of shape like, "How much did that tattoo cost?! How can you afford that?!" I just sigh because like... EVERYTHING in this world costs money. EVERYTHING. If you buy an art print for your wall, that's money. If you buy a designer handbag (which fashion lovers consider an art piece), that costs money. Getting your hair cut costs money, clothing yourself costs money, buying a house costs money. I chose to use my extra money to buy tattoos. How come what you spend money on is more valid than what I spend money on, random person I don't know in the grocery store?? I pay my bills, don't tell me how to live my life! XD

I personally just love the whole experience of getting tattooed. But Im already strange because I do often fall asleep while getting tattooed. You make a good point about the cost of tattoos and the fact that those tattoos will last a lifetime. Lots of people spend money on hobbies, whether it's traveling, customizing their car, etc. How someone chooses to spend their disposable income isn't anyone else's business.

I think tattoos are addicting in the aspect of wanting more to your collection to complete it. If you can get to a place where you can relax during the tattoo session, you can reach an almost zen-like, meditative state. I enjoy the process because it makes me be 100% present and in the moment. You feel every single second of the experience--how rare is that in our lives? We're always distracted or looking forward or looking back.

Wow! I got tattooed a couple days ago, thanks for talking about the pain and anxiety! So relateable! I had to ask my artist to make the piece smaller and I almost, like, stopped breathing. I'm almost surprised I got the nerve to tell her and didn't just go through getting an enormous tattoo because I was too scared to say shit. Omg my legs twitch every time I get a tattoo (no matter where it is) and I worry so much about fucking them up. I enjoy all Tattoo Talk Tuesdays but this one was awesome!!!! Changing camera angles...nice! I started getting tattooed in my mid 40's and I don't enjoy the pain but love them when they're healed. I'm starting my other sleeve next month which the excitement of the planning, research and finding the artist, although the pain isn't going to be fun. lol True, it's an investment that you're making and it will be with you all you life! Hey Qcknd. I know this is kind of a loaded topic, but could you please do a TTT on cultural appropriation/stereotyping in tattoos? I feel like images of Romani and Native American women have a lot of history in American tattooing, but they often push stereotypes that are harmful to the real people of those cultures. I also know that things like mandalas, dreamcatchers, and sugar skulls are popular which many consider cultural appropriation. I think it's especially interesting because tattoos last a lifetime. Mainstream culture shifts over time and what might not have been offensive to most people a number of years ago could be recognized as harmful now or in the future. I don't know; I just think there's a lot to unpack here and would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Keep up the great work. :)

Llyrra Treks So I know I'm not Qcknd and this is an older comment but here is my opinion. It kind of depends on the tattoo and the person. Most tattoos could probably be argued as cultural appropriation in some form. I think true cultural appropriation is disrespect of that culture and people. Just having a dream catcher in itself is pretty mundane. But disrespecting it's origins and people is problematic. And is someone has a dream catcher that you can't see does it hurt that cultural or people. Probably not.

i agree with the going without thing. i only have a full sleeve and a shin piece, but i plan on having way way more. i have a car, but i rarely eat out (once a week, twice at the most), im not into makeup, my hair is usually in a ponytail, i dont party much, i dont shop for clothes or anything and i live with my parents (i am nearly 20). usually when i buy myself stuff i feel so guilty but when i dropped a grand on my shin i didnt feel any guilt and i always wondered why.

I love the part where you guys talked about tattoo anxiety! SO relatable! My anxiety comes before I see the design. I'm so scared that I won't like the design or it won't look how I imagined. This is especially stress inducing if I've already put a deposit down. One of my tattoos I didn't like the design very much and it didn't look how I imagined but I didn't wanna be rude so I just got the tattoo. It isn't a bad tattoo it's very pretty but not what I pictured.

People always ask about the price of my ink as well. I don't drink or smoke or drive...So the money has to go somewhere c; I don't think I'm addicted to tattoos but I do enjoy getting them and having them. Maybe its the hormone release or I enjoy hanging with my artist or knowing this is the process to get art on myself. And sometimes, it feels like a good scratch. Other times it's fire. Luck of the area 😂

I didn't know Morgan but now I do!definitely going to subscribe to her. I'll be 30 next year and I plan on getting tattooed the entire year.
