No, not really…. We don’t need any self-focused marketing personalities in a sport where competence used to be earned by going fishing and making mistakes. What was once a personal experience is now an “industry”. These guys aren’t the worst but definitely a sign of the over-commercialized times…

Pressure is killing Fisheries..Normal technique barley works or doesn't at all ..shoulder to shoulder no matter where you go..I mean they do it for stocked trout .There's no where to go someone doesn't also show up or there's probably been 9 people in the run before you..Its getting ridiculous

20 years ago when I first started bead fishing for trout and salmon in southeastern WI, guys would look at me funny when I wasn’t using spawn or throwing spinners. I had guys a few times accuse me of snagging, flossing fish, because they didn’t understand what I was using or even doing. I’d tell people (the fish eat yarn flies, so why not egg beads). It took years and years for guys to finally start catching on and giving it try for themselves. Somedays I use spawn with a bead, but most days the plain bead will seal the deal on some fish. It’s a good alternative when you can’t get your hands on eggs for spawn sacs, and some days especially in low clear water the bead will often work as good or better than spawn or anything else! Good video and good luck fishing! 🎣

Came to steelhead fishing 2 years ago as a carp angler and I've found a standard snell with the beard on a loop formed by the tag end and back through the hook eye under the wraps gives me the best hookup ratio of anything I've tested. Been experimenting with tying the hook with a uni knot and the bead between the eye and the knot but both keep the bead right to the back of the hook but also out of the way, and if a fish gets any torque with the first method the bead will pop free

Really enjoy the addicted videos but Jordan’s are the best. I don’t steelhead fish but want to try. I grew up in the South and fishing shows came on before SEC football. Jordan and company really remind me of those guys teaching techniques and edict for being in nature. Just really need some local small engine shops and NW restaurants advertising. Plus some blooper reels because we are all human and fishing can be frustrating at times. We need to laugh more. 😊 love Lil too!!!

VEERRY good vid!... I prefer 40/4000s more due to a larger drag disk than line cap for steelhead. Line-cap is rarely an issue. Plus the pick-up rate is a bit quicker. I also use Okuma & Penn "bait-feeders", even on chinook. They allow a really nice continuous drift, on steelhead/coho rods, but also on chinook rods. Were I fishing for big pike/muskie, those again would be my spinning choice. Generally however, I prefer my Ambassadeur 4600/5500 C5 Mag-X's or D6 or EXT in 56/5500s but to each their own. My rods are also to 8'6""-9'6", 12#, but I have used a 14' crappie rod rated to 25#, and a 10'6" 'float' rod rated 6# with excellent results. I like soft beads & Gooey-Bobs with bead-stoppers & a bit of white/off-white yarn tied on line above the bead/gooey-bob. If I'm lake-fishing for trout my personal best is 4# on a white, a couple on black, jig-head, small red worm with the same yarn above the worm, clipped pretty close (chironomid/bloodworm) and holy-cow, works very well. On your "store", that Brad's Wiggler in green clown is amazing for trout & salmon in fresh water.

I just can’t Stand running a bumper line with any type of sliding float setup. I’m sure it’s great and all but if you end up needing your bobber stop a little deeper and you get to that blood knot you’re screwed and gotta re rig. And then fishing a shallow hole you end up with a ton of fluorocarbon above your float pulling you down current.

I always fish 6 to 12 inches of mono on my weight drop and hang it off the bottom end of a three way swivel. The top of the swivel goes to the mainline and my presentation goes on the middle. The reason is to get my gear up off the bottom and into the strike zone as opposed to having it tumbling along the bottom. It rarely (almost never)tangles and I use a lighter mono on the drop then my mainline or leader so it breaks off when I snag.

Hey Jordan nice to see you back on the screen I haven't watched the video in so long the only thing that I have to ask why do you have such a long leader the way and it seems like you have more than a it looks like it seems like you have three different parts of the setup to we're it's 9ft long liter instead of only a 6 ft liter. And Jordan what I'd am used to be doing is have a six 6ft an four 4ft liter put together tied to my main line so I'd would have Ten ft liter that's put together. And then my main line. An I'd use a different bobber. I'd really need something better than before so could you send a video we're I'd could see much better You's putting it together how's it done please. I'd have pore eyes now being 58 almost 59 year's of age. I'd Love ❤️ the video

Great video and information, just getting into river fishing, from the Midwest, moved to NorCal, probably a dumb question, knowing the motto”match the hatch” but my question on these setups is what time of year should I be throwing beads vs. Flies or grubs, jigs etc … that I think is the only information I have been missing, from what I have seen the same sliding float method can be used multiple ways ??

I've seen other guys using 20lb 3' leaders with 1/0 hooks in dirtier water but you could go lighter and smaller in different water. I'd be worried that they get spooked by the lead in clear water.
