I caught a 31 inch steelhead today on the umatilla river. It weighed 9.2 pounds, sadly it was a wild one so I released it :)

That was awsome! Love you guys. Im 70 years old and love, love love to fish! I leave my husband at home to go fishing, and would love to go fishing with you guys, I've never caught a steelhead but it would be one thing checked off my bucket list! I LOVE Jordon and little, they warm my heart. Watch you all everyday best clips and I get so excited.

The biggest I seen was a old timer had mounted on his wall over 20lbs he caught in Castle Rock Wa in the Cowlitz below the car lot.

I love how big Jord gets so jacked up everytime he hooks into a fish! That's what it's all about! This episode was great as I have never seen Jordan get so mad with his hatchery rant, and breaking his gear off....Then he gets so happy like a young boy when he hooks up with a magical steelhead! So awesome! Love that pure joy that Jordan has when he is hooked up! Keep it up. My fav channel now.

I don' know were to begin with this comment. Cowlitz was a summer run pumping machine when i grew up there. State should be all over Tacoma power to bring this river back. Tacoma power made an agreement with the people of Washington, if they build a dam, they produce hatchery fish. No one is holding up to the deal. Really sad.
@chadkinkela51865 жыл бұрын
@Rogue Fisherman Thank you for that. I did not realize this was part of the issue. Probably even got worse this year with the super low flows all summer. Sure wish they could figure out how to get this river going again. One of my all time favorite places to be fishing. Flip flops and shorts catching dime bright steelhead. Good stuff.

I really enjoy your channel. Especially Steelhead and Salmon shows. I've been fishing for these for over 5 decades, and although injuries have limited me recently, it's still a blast when I can make it out. I couldn't agree more how sad things have gotten with fish numbers declining and why. Hopefully, I'll see you in Southern Oregon on the Umpqua system sometime. We get some huge fish here. Keep up the great work.

Good info, and I'm 100% a spinner guy for summers, with R&B's or if you can still find them, 1/3 ounce Led Davis bolo spinner. I have gone swimming for a fish catching spinner that is hung up but, without my waders on. Another technique that works for summers is a straight upstream cast in 6 to 10 feet of water and crank it back as fast as you can crank and they will chase it down!

Jordan! Love 99% of the content that you and the addicted crew produce! Other 1% is when you litter the tag ends of fishing line, right into the river after tying a lure. I always find monofilament line scattered around my favorite fishing spots, I'd hate to think Jordan contributes to this mess. Love you guys.

I was literally laughed at, at an Oregon hatchery for throwing a mad dog pink worm with yellow tail. An hour later they wernt laughing anymore. I had bled two nice chromers. Then sat and ate my lunch and watched them wait for me to leave. I took a nice hour lunch. Giggling the whole time, watching them search their tackle box! 🤷♂️🤣

My personal best Summer run lol..I was perch fishing on the St Joesph river where it dumps into Lake Michigan late june with a perch rig and minnows on a 6' Lightning Rod and 6# test line the fight was over before I knew what happened. It was peeling line off and hit the surface once and was gone. I said wth was that and the guy next to me said probably a Skamanie. Never fished that pier with less than 8'rod since...

It's been some time back in the 80' the St.Joesph River in SW Michigan... loving referred to as the Jo received some 50k fingerlings a year and an additional 250k fry steelhead we had tremendous fishing for years our catches were from 5-8# up to my personal best of right at 15# so I agree with you the more the merrier. They continued stocking and added some Summer runs from your Skamani and Umpqua rivers. You have to hit the runs just right now says or go out in the lake and a report from north of us recently was talking about the Lake Trout being the target species...bring back the Steelies and the spring run Browns and Coho's

Try green body silver blade blue fox #6 Instead of 5. and instead of tying to the main, put a trolling weight like 1/4, 1/2, 3/8 Oz then floro 17pound tied straight to the lure it's going to drop that weight into the system instead of hitting on top in fast water it'll keep you in that two feet strike zone with those blue fox since they love to ride the top and it also makes your blade act totally different instead of riding like a wheelie it's going straight forward following that weight you will have 100% more success and never lose a fish with the number six

You guys are 100% right about smolt plants. You think it’s bad for summers in SW Washington? Look at the coastal rivers. 129,000 smolts in 2017...for the whole Washington coast (grays harbor rivers have 90,000ish of those are two rivers. One of which was FAMOUS for both summer and winters. I’m going to drop a river name, only because there is no summer run fisheries on it. The satsop should have summer runs on it. It has great runs and pools. It gets ZERO summer plants. It should get lots of winters too, but honestly, 34,000 is way to few. People used to come from everywhere to fish winters here (I’m in Elma). They used to put like 250,000 winters in the satsop. That’s cook creek (Quinault) numbers. Funny how the tribes (who many say are the stewards of our natural resources) don’t feel to concerned about planting the right amount of fish. The Quinault have actually rolled back those numbers on cook creek from over 400,000 to 250,000 or so. I think they had WAY to much surplus after smolt predation, ocean fishing/predation, nets and sports fishing. Our current stocks can barely hold up to a week of nets and some sports fishing combined with the other factors. Even pinks can’t cope. Yikes.
