It turns out that most of the cheap PIR modules sold for use with Arduinos have the facility to add an LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) so they only activate at night. This is quite a useful feature to have, so here's how to add one to a typical module of this style.
Note that the most common type of LDR is based on Cadmium Sulphide and as such the technically clueless eco-hippies are trying to get them banned under the RoFS (Reduction of Functional Substances) bandwagon. So buy 'em while you can.
