The buck converter will continuously draw current directly from the battery. Most techs would use a relay to send power to the converter only when the ignition is on. 50 amp fuses will allow 50 amps to short something out and the wood would add fuel to the fire. I'm thinking that a 3A to 5A fuse would offer protection. 48 volts DC with a 100Ah battery is potentially a weenie roast. Did you connect the key switch wire to the 48volt of the battery pack instead of a key switch?

That's what it looks like, there are 2 red wires going to the 50 amp fuse, and the voltage converter he linked, the thin red wire is the key switch wire.
