Adding Audio in Rough Animator on iPad

Hey im on an apple ipad and for some reason when i click browse it sends me to my files but doesnt let me ad any audio, i think i need to download it as an mp3 but i have no clue how to do that

I would make sure you are on the latest version and see if that helps. mp3s should work.

You might need a third party app to convert your audio file before importing to RA.

This video was help full but for some reason it took 3 day to get up to 20% download and yet it still hasn’t loaded is there any way to diss that?

Not sure I understand the question. 20% download of what? Are you stuck on the importing of an audio file? If it took 3 days, I'd do a restart of your iPad. Then try upgrading Rough Animator to the latest version.

On the Mac and iPad versions of Rough Animator you can drag the sides of the audio file to make it shorter. You might need to upgrade to the latest version of the software to do this though. Let me know if it works.

For some reason, when i input audio into my animations, the audio color on top becomes green and it locks me from inserting frames, using brushes, eraser and lasso and i bassically cant do anything except edit the audio file like crop it and cut it in rough animator. Any way to fix that? Edit: Forgot to mention, all the tools become gray and i cant select them.

Did you remember to extend the layer frame count to the same or more than the audio length?

I'm assuming you're on an iPad. It might depend on the audio file type you are trying to use. There are a lot of formats out there. Know mp3 and wav work for sure. Maybe try converting your file to one of those.

Im on android tablet and im ok with it but the thing is when I tried to lips sync the audio is little low volume and some frames that you cant hear the audio at all is there a way to fix this?

I can't specifically tell you what app to use on Android, but on the Mac I use Audacity for cleaning up my audio. I'm no audio expert and I only use microphones under $100 so I usually have to bring my audio levels up before I import them into ANY program. I would recommend finding an audio app that you can see the waveforms and that will help you to see if the levels are too low. Make some adjustments and then save and import that new audio file into Rough Animator and see if that helps.

I am very confused, please help. When I import the audio, it doesn’t go on the bars, it goes at the bottom next to the title and when I add more frames like you did for the audio, nothing plays. Please help!

You don't NEED an mp3 necessarily, it is just one format Rough Animator will work with for audio. You can probably record an audio file with whatever device you are using and then import that file into Rough Animator.

Hey hey so I have a slight problem with my rough animator all my audio files are grey and I can’t import any music for my animations anymore which is odd considering I’ve been able to since I got it in October all the way up until today. I don’t know what happened. Truth is rough animator has always kinda been annoying with adding audio as I would always have to hold down the audio file for a bit until it would import but now even doing it like that won’t work :( I’m not sure what to do I have a lot of inspiration to start something but I can’t until the audios in and I can’t get it to work ☹️ I’ve tried converting the audio file into an mp3 file as I saw a comment that had a similar issue but I’m not sure how to do it correctly. I’m on an IPad btw.

Is there a way to just record the audio right from that program so you can see the screen playing as you record your audio (to know where to say what parts)? (If you draw first then record after, which is what my 9 year old niece wants to do).

Hi, at this time I don't believe Rough Animator can record audio. You might try requesting that as a future feature from the developer. Depending on what device your niece is using it might not be that hard to record some audio and then import that file into Rough Animator. I know there are free audio apps for the iPad like Voice Memos that should be able to do this. On the Mac, I use the free program Audacity to record audio. Hope that helps a little!

@@heypatrickdavidson Thank you, she uses an iPad and she has some BIG ideas but so far hasn't learned how to actually do most of the amazing features in this program so I am trying to learn and then teach her. (Your videos are very helpful!) She draws a LOT of pictures and its more like a slide show situation right now but I know she wants to add audio to it but doesnt know how yet. It will have to be something that is on her iPad already but I will see if she has voice memo and go from there, thanks!

@@heypatrickdavidson Okay we tried for a while last night with no luck. She has "voice memos" on her iPad Air 2 version iPadOS 14.8.1 and we CANNOT get the Rough Animator to find any of the files we create in voice memo. We cant even figure out how to export the files from voice memos to where they are saved anywhere. Do you have any advice? We are desperate. My niece told me to tell you "if you can help us figure this out, I will make an animation and send you the link, thank you :)"
