You don't let them out til the food is gone... or throw some cracked corn B4 you let them out

That was our first time eating outside with them around haha. We will definitely take that advice!

@@RunawayMattCass just FYI Cracked corn and calcium is all they need... they will get every insect on the property for you. Try NOT To feed "LAYER PELLETS" Gov Conspiracy and Tractor Supply ... layer pellets caused the hens to STOP LAYING. AND "CRACKED CORN" Will give you the best and tastiest eggs

Now your homestead feels and sounds alive. Love the colors on your roosters and hens. They are gorgeous ..beautiful babies to come. Thank you for showing how to installl the chicken door. I am about to install mine. The coyotes on my farm know and watch for when I am gone and came right into the house yard and took 5 chickens. I now lock them in a big yard covered in so they have a safe place while I am gone. How about Nigerian dwarf goats next. Lol I have seven and they are just like puppies. Did you know the NG milk is so rich you can make butter as well as cheese. And they add a whole new level of fun, color and noise to the homestead. Cow panels work great to keep them contained when they need to be. Love your channel ..blessings to you and your new flock.

Just keep an eye out for hawks and owls or you'll be getting more hens sooner than you anticipated. The electric fence is great to keep raccoons, opossum out

Hey you 2 .... here in Northern Europe we use woos chips in the chicken coops .... when puttinf down a big pile, it's good for all winter, the menour mixed with the feasies will also help keeping warmth in the coop during winter .... we clean them out every spring and autumn/winter .... and it's already to kickstart the 'hot' composting

I want to have chickens again but I want them to free range because we have so many ticks. Issue is, the one adjacent neighbor that I have would probably have an issue with them visiting their yard. Also, I'm almost convinced they are smart enough to avoid going into the road that's 75' from the house to the road. You have me thinking again 🤣 Enjoy them! They are so fun to have around. I had mine "cooped up" and in a small run and it was just not fun.

We tried the door that y’all got and we weren’t very happy with the results. It wouldn’t open in the morning and wouldn’t close at night. I finally spent the extra dough for an Omlet door (after trying 2 other doors). It has been on the coop for 2 years now and has always worked perfectly. I put 4 AA batteries in it when I installed it and 2 years later the batteries are still at 70%. Might want to take a look if you have any issues with the one you have.

Regarding the Bantam tandem. With chickens, only having one hen for one rooster can lead to aggressive and abusive mating techniques from the rooster. They express their desire to mate by pecking the hens around their head. If there is only one target for his affection, that can lead to injures for the hen. Just something to think about and watch for.

Your dog is pretty well harmless to your chickens it's your cat you have to watch out for if your hens become laying hens and hatch out diddles cats just love to go after diddles and kill them.
