Quick note on tagging that I forgot to mention around 00:27:58. When you're adding the opening quotation mark be sure you add the path to your objects so you'll want to replace it with: "textures/objects/your_prefix_here My apologies for the oversight!

Quick note that might save someone some time, you can copy and paste the objects.txt text into excel, then use these formulas to add all the required text around the objects. So in column A, paste your text (make sure each item is its own cell). In Column B, to add the quotation marks, paste this =""""&A1&"""," Then, in Column C to add the path, paste this =LEFT(B1,1) & "textures/objects/" & MID(B1,2,100) Lots of ways to do this but I found this the easiest. Hope it helps, should look something like this in column C "textures/objects/Alchemy Apparatus.PNG",

The video length makes it seem more complex than it is I think. For what I imagine most people will want to do they could just watch the section on objects and probably be fine. Doing that is pretty much just creating a few folders and copy pasting a bunch of images (and tagging them if desired). I imagine soon artists will be offering DD compatible asset packs and then everyone should have a much easier time!
@AstralMarmot4 жыл бұрын
@@EncounterLibrary First, thank you so much for this! Can you say more about "DD Compatible asset packs"? I downloaded a bunch of 2 Minute Tabletop assets that say they're DD compatible. If that's the case, what do I need to do to use them? I tried dropping them in my DD Assets folder, and I can see the folder names when I open the Assets menu in DD, but they did not appear in the objects section. There is a file called (as an example) "2-Minute Tabletop Wizard Tower.dungeondraft_pack". Does that file allow me to skip any of these steps, or do I still need to do all of this? Thanks for explaining - this is all brand new to me so I appreciate the step-by-step a lot.
@EncounterLibrary4 жыл бұрын
@@AstralMarmot I'm always happy to help a marmot, especially of the astral variety! So DD compatible asset packs will basically be assets that are already packaged up for use in Dungeon Draft. And you're exactly right in thinking that the "2-Minute Tabletop Wizard Tower.dungeondraft_pack" is what you want and with it you can skip almost all of the steps in this video. All you need to do is move that file (not even any of the assets) over to your DungeonDraft Custom Assets folder and then activate it like I show around 00:30:15 and it should appear in your objects near the bottom. I believe *most* of the 2 Minute Table Top assets that are packed currently are just objects not walls, terrain etc. but it should still be helpful! If you've got any other questions please let me know and I'd be happy to try and clarify :D.

Sir, you are a saint. Had I not found this video and sat following your example step by step, I wouldn't have bothered with dungeondraft. All the premade assets I've found including most of the paid ones have a cartoonish style that doesn't match the more realistic assets I use in roll20. Now I can take these same assets and feed them into dungeondraft to create a perfect match with so much less tedious work thanks to the brushes, walls, and tilesets. Thank you so much!

@EncounterLibrary4 жыл бұрын
I split each step into its own small section to record so I could try to reduce the amount of talking but to show a long and complex process for all custom asset types unfortunately takes a long time and a lot of explaining. It should be fairly easy to do if you follow along and the video is broken up into chunks based on each asset type to make it easier to do only the parts you want but the basic process boils down to: 1. Create folder structure 2. Place objects in their folder 3. Place terrain in their folder 4. Place walls in their folder (ensuring that you have a wall image and an end cap for the wall) 5. Place doors in their folder (ensuring that they don't exceed the maximum pixel height/width 6. Add lights 7. Add materials (ensuring you have both the repeating inside section and border 8. Add tags if desired 9. Access the folder through DungeonDraft and have it generate an asset pack 10. Activate that asset pack within DungeonDraft There are of course substeps for some of those but that's the broad overview and you only have to do the steps for the assets you want to import. You can also refer to Megasploot's GitHub documentation here: github.com/Megasploot/Dungeondraft/wiki/Custom-Assets-Guide. Hopefully that will be helpful as well!

Encounter Library I managed to figure it out after some time, and the list you just made definitely is great! Again, this is by no means me saying the video is bad, because it’s not. A minor suggestion might be to see you make a map using it? Like add an object, then go into a map and drop them around. Then add a terrain and throw some in there. Just so we can see it exactly as it works. That would just help people like me understand the breakdown of each step a lot more easily

Just as a note: I didn't choose to make it complex, it's what the program requires for asset packs to work. If you want to add a single asset then you can follow just the part about adding objects. I put together the video in a way that you can ignore the other sections if you're not using them. In a more recent version of DungeonDraft there is a better solution though. Take a look at my latest DungeonDraft update video, it goes over how you can add individual assets to a map (pretty much drag n' drop). If you want it added in properly as a custom asset though you'll need to follow this video.

So, I have a newbie question. In your example with walls and portals, I was wondering whether or not you need to create end pieces for each wall you want to import. (a) Walls: I noticed you only copied the 1 horizontal wall piece over to your package walls folder? How come you did not copy all the rest? (b) Walls: Relatedly, I noticed you created your end for only one of the horizontal pieces, but in my download I had 2 walls *SS001_T004_StWall_Ext_Lng_LG.png* and *SS001_T005_StWall_Ext_Lng_LG.png* - so, if they are/were different do I want _ends for each wall? I only packed a handful of portals from the Schley pack because, unfortunately, there wasn't enough assets for me to justify using the style with how different it is from core DungeonDraft so I just did enough to demo it. There may be an issue with filenames not being correct or folder names being incorrect/in the wrong position. You can post the folder here if you'd like and I can take a look or they can probably help you more closely in the DD Discord which I believe is linked in the description.

Do wall tiles need to be a specific height and width? I've followed your instructions and Dungeondraft crashes whenever I try to create a room using a wall?
@EncounterLibrary4 жыл бұрын
That's an odd one. Walls don't need to be a specific height/width. Is the wall and the wall end piece named correctly? Does DD crash when you try to use a normal wall or only the custom one? If you'd like to upload your asset pack (if possible both a zip of the files and the actual asset pack made by DD) I can see if I can find any issues with it. It might be worth hitting up the DD Discord as well here: discord.gg/J9Czgpu

Where do you get all of Schley's assets? I've bought a pack for 10 dollars at his site, but it only has the assets from The Forlorn Cottage. Are there not more assets by him available to us?
@EncounterLibrary4 жыл бұрын
He has another couple packs that are available for purchase on ProFantasy's store. They're a fair bit more expensive than his Forlorn Cottage pack unfortunately :(.
@chromo58334 жыл бұрын
@@EncounterLibrary Hey, thank you for your fast reply. Do you mean the ones that they refer to as Dungeons of Schley ( and Cities of Schley)? They are about 23 dollars right now, but claim to have more than 1000 assets, so that would be worth it I guess.
@EncounterLibrary4 жыл бұрын
Yep, those should be the correct packs! I don't *think* he sells assets anywhere else (or at least not that I've seen). It's definitely expensive but he does make high quality assets and if you like that art style there's not really too many other places you can get it unfortunately. That does mean you'll probably be limited to what's already out there though so it's something to consider. Someone like Forgotten Adventures supplies already made DungeonDraft asset packs to their patrons and has 3000+ assets (with more being made) and might be another good place to look at if you like their aesthetic.

I would ensure you're on the latest version of DungeonDraft. When you launch it in the top right hand corner it should say 'Update-to-Date' or that there is an update available. If there isn't it sounds like a bug with DD and I would recommend reaching out to them in the Megasploot discord because I'm not sure what would be going on for the files to not be there. Any chance there's a limit to the number of assets. I have the exact same asset pack with some additional assets, about 255 objects for instance. It packages, I can select this but nothing appears?
@EncounterLibrary4 жыл бұрын
Are you doing just objects or terrain and walls etc. as well? And I'm guessing by nothing appears you mean that none of the objects appear in the object picker? I'm curious if it works without the additional assets. As far as I know there's no object limit in asset packs but I guess there could be or at least a bug. If you're on discord feel free to message me in the DungeonDraft discord (I'm mattexdee) and you can send over a zip of your asset pack and I'll try to recreate the issue!

Correct I never see any of the content from the custom asset pack. Sorry but I can' t find the discord server for DungeonDraft or Megasploot. I'll try reducing the number of assets. Maybe even just adding 1 asset to see if that has anything to do with it.

Fantastic video! I'm actually using the same Schley assets you're using in the video, which definitely helps on that front. However, I've been having an issue with the scaling of the assets, notably that the terrain textures are minuscule compared to how it looks in identical circumstances (at least, as far as I can tell) on the video. Have you had any similar issues on your end? Edit: I ended up scaling the Schleyscape terrains up to 2048x2048 in Photoshop, which resolves the issue. Looks pretty good!
@EncounterLibrary4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you were able to work it out! The only thing I could think of as an issue is if you maybe used a smaller version (not the print assets folder) which might be worth looking at. I haven't tried scaling these assets specifically but there's a tool called Waifu2x (which is a truly terrible name) that is a machine learning algorithm designed specifically for scaling drawn/animated styles that I've used to scale some low-res maps to good results. So if you see any quality issues with the PS scaled up versions it might be worth running it through that! Best of luck!

@@EncounterLibrary: It's a weird one, I used the same 300dpi prints folder you used in the video, but I'm not having any issues with scaling (apart from the odd tweak with getting all the portals aligned) after the scale-up! Either way, thanks for the video 👉👉

I believe the diamond should appear by default on all versions of DD since custom asset support was added. When you first open DungeonDraft in the top right hand corner it should say 'Update to Date' if it's on the latest version. You could create a custom asset that is just white and add that as a terrain and then fill the map with that terrain. Unfortunately, there has to be some terrain applied to the map but you could at least fake it this way.

This is awesome, thank you so much! I did have trouble with the tags, since they weren't the right path apparently, but I found a way around. Open your object.txt file shown in the video. I use notepadd++, and you can use the replace feature with regular expression selected to insert at the front and end. Just enter ^ to find and replace it with "texture/objects/ and it will replace all the front with that. Then you do the same, but with $ as the find for the end. A helpful tutorial for anyone interested: code2care.org/pages/add-text-start-end-each-line-notepad-plus-plus/

I posted a pinned comment to hopefully let people know.
