best trainer ever! Now I see the mistakes I make with my puppy. Definitely this video needs more views and likes.

Is saying “good sit” after the dog is already sitting a little confusing to the dog?

Beautifully explained and Cindy is excellent as always . Thank you : )

Is it better to have a different release cue like Cindy used “break” to break position instead of saying “yes” which will also break the position but also tells the dog it did well? Unless she used the cue “break” to tell the dog, we’re finished with the session.

I am also curious about that. The system has always been "good" for duration and "yes" to end the command. I noticed that in another video as well.

@leerburg could you clarify how you use the mark in your system. There are lots of different methods. For example a trainer says ‘yes’ as the mark for good behavior but then feeds in place. That way the duration mark is not needed but instead there needs to be a break cue. But here you seem to use all three. How is your system meant to be used and would you use different for different dogs? Like rewarding in place for pet dogs but rewarding in movement for working dogs.

Break is the reward. It's like if you had your dog sitting at the door before it goes through it, when you say break it releases the dog and going through the door is the reward. I hope that makes sense. ..

becky johnson, thank you. That was not what I was asking but I appreciate your reply! I understand the use of “break” Leerburg gives the reward out of position. Like they say “sit” and then mark with “yes” but they feed the dog out of position (the dog goes and gets its reward) other methods feed in place. Which means the “yes” will not break a position, therefore they have to have a “break” cue. My question was, why is Cindy using both? I’m curious, because I want to know if I have missed something in their methods of training.

@@viktoriaandrejeff1731Sorry, I figured I didn't explain it clearly😕. Forest Mickey's video "Engagement Skills" teaches to do both. Yes is a release with food or toy and Break is just a neutral word release without a treat. Break doesn't get a treat. From this video I only saw Cindy use Break when they were done training...i may be wrong. But you should get the Engagement Skills video from Leerburg. I learned so much from it💓Tyler Mutos videos are awesome too! They are more geared for a pet dog and his use of release cues are simplified. But if you're watching these KZbin videos you're probably doing 99% more than most people. I probably shouldn't reply to your questions because I am not a trainer, I just have a lot of Leerburg videos. Maybe someone from them will reply 😊 And clearly answer your question better .

My dog has trouble with the duration on the sit. He often drops to a down after not too long. Hes fairly large and I think kinda uncomfortable sitting for a long time.
