How do you add new buttons to the Astro City Mini Arcade Stick, and why do you need them?
Previously, we modded the Arcade Stick to work with all systems (thanks to a Brook Universal Fighting Board), but that still left it missing some core functionality - • Astro City Mini Arcade...
In this video, you will see how to add three extra buttons to the stick, in order to give it complete compatibility with all modern consoles.

I´m an ex arcade stick adicted, it started in 2009 with Street Fighter IV, so I started to buy many sticks as I can, first was the mayflash for PS2/PS3, then the Madcatz standard edition for SF4, then I moded it with sanwa parts, one month later it was the madcatz Tournment edition, then a bunch of madcatz versions, the Sega pro arcade stick, Qanba, Hori etc... I bought some, sold others, I had more than 30, today I only have three left, a Razer Atrox with dual mod, a Madcatz TE 2+ and my favorite Hori Vewlix pro, but watching your video made me want to to buy one of these because it reminds me a lot of the Sega arcade stick pro, but I'm going to resist because I don't play fighting games anymore, and I know that if I start I won't stop ;)

Great, great video. I might do something like this to my ACMAS sticks someday. Luckily my MiSTer FPGA has allowed me to map Home to Credit+Start. Only thing missing from the video is perhaps a complete before/after top-down shot of the internals. Would have loved to see the final wiring. You are good at making these videos.

Looks great. Also, I don't think you had much to worry about in the cracking department. This is thick, and relatively new plastic and you had new bits.

I added the same buttons to mine about a week after I added a brook board but put them on the back rather than the side. Harder on the wireless board because Home is used to turn on the stick and Select+Home is used to sync.

Defo would've fitted white 24mm buttons at the back at the same position the original 6 buttons are. Thanks for doing this and making a video, very informative! my bet is that square was supposed to have SEGA logo, etc on it. endented? Can't think of the word

It feels more natural to move you hand to the side rather than reach around the stick to press a button

Think the square at the top must be some kind of left over from previous uses, because the stick mold has been used before if you look up the PS3 Virtua Stick High Grade (through wouldnt be from that one since that used a centered cord like the astro city mini)

Great stuff thanks for sharing! I noticed that the Brooks UFB has a “turbo” button pin. Is this to enable turbo on any button? Is there a practical way to wire this to the Astro City Arcade stick? This would be great for shoot’em ups.

I will need to look into it

As i understand it on the brook instructions manual it says "TURBO LED" so i think its to indicate that a said button has Turbo on or off, but i think that your stick need to have LEDs lights for all buttons as well, for that function to work, dont think brook has the function for turbo yet, someone correct me if i am wrong.
@jiminboo
@jiminboo Жыл бұрын
@@DrunkDudley The manual isn’t very clear but there is a “Turbo Key” button, which is kind of standard nowadays on Arcade sticks. You typically hold that key + the button you want turbo to enable it for that particular button. The LED would probably flicker or turn on if that button is pressed indicating that it’s in Turbo mode. I might give it a test when I get some time.

Ive been playing with mine for a few months now on Fightcade...its really nice and accurate...only thing kinda annoying is the credit button above the joystick..sometimes i hit it by accident while fighting..they should have moved it over more far left or right next to the start button...also if look the credit button is imbedded kinda under the surface of the control panel on the display box..and the face plate bolts are like the original candy cab bolts you would see on a real Japanese arcade panel...kinda lame how it got changed apparently...overall its really responsive and accurate

You need 30mm Sanwa buttons, and a Sanwa Ball Top (universal size) Here's an option arcadeshock.com/products/sanwa-denshi-button-30mm-solid-color-silent-obsfs-30-xx?_pos=3&_sid=516df10ac&_ss=r&variant=1059505817
