I watched Brian Phillips to I also appreciate watching your videos to. Can’t wait to see the maiden flight. Good luck over and out.

Besides your channel, I have watched Brian Phillips from when I first started with remote control airplanes and jets. I have respect for both of you, and I’ve always wanted to try flaperons but just never got to it. But you got my interest up again and I’m gonna give it a try as well. Thank you for a very easy tutorial to make this change.

1. Generally, lowering the ailerons will cause the wingtips to stall before the wing root. It's especially true if the wing is tapered and the ailerons are a constant width from the root to the tip. In that situation, drooping the ailerons increases the angle of attack at the tips more than at the root. The higher angle of attack at the tips will cause them to stall before the root. 2. Another reason to avoid using flaperons is adverse yaw. The aileron that is deflected downward the most will create more drag and pull the nose in the opposite direction of the desired turn. 3. If you have too much travel, you should move the linkage further out on the control horn (1st) and/or move the linkage in on the servo arm (2nd). You shouldn’t fix it by turning the travel down in your transmitter.

I will agree with all the stall etc stuff I'm not going to use much flapero. Just a little to experiment. Part of the hobby is tinkering and fiddling with them. I will argue that you can reduce the travel in the transmitter. .

@@GRIFFINRCPLANES You can, but it decreases the resolution of your radio and since the linkage doesn’t move as far, any slack becomes a larger percentage of the travel. And this decreases the positioning accuracy of your control surfaces.

Good lesson. 👍🏻🙂. Will be interested in watching how it affects your plane.

Thanks Sean. I like to use them. Little less control when deployed, you should have no problem landing at your site. Look forward to the flight video..
