Im only 35 seconds in and i had to pause the video and check the comments to see if im the only one who isn't going to learn from this video. Holy cow, this is beyond me.

If you go to the Khan academy site they have videos before this that actually explain it. These are just the practice vids😅

I’m confused as well. I’m an adult. 😂 Trying to refresh my mind on fractions. I’m in agreement. This was not a good video imo. I was supposed to walk away understanding all of this and feeling silly for getting caught up in my old young self thoughts on fraction fears, but instead I’m wondering why the guy decided to add a negative 2 and 1/6.

I hate how he uses number lines instead of teaching you how to do the actual math. Like, how do I know what 3 7/8 - 2 1/6 is on a number line?!

I thought at first this was wrong...even though I remembered improper fractions were supposed to be done this way....you really should have explained or even mentioned Improper Fractions when doing this video. It took me a good minute to realize that on Wolfram Alpha that the improper fractions needed to be calculated first using '3 Divide[1,8] as an improper fraction' on Wolfram Alpha before actually entering it to get the answer.

When adding or subtracting fractions with different denominators, you should be able to control them. If you have studied Gongbae well, this unit may be easy.

If I didn't know how to solve this, I'd be totally confused by this person. I was hoping to find a clear easy-to-understand video for an ESL student but this was awful.

Why would you change it to an improper fraction and not change it back at the end of the problem? Very confusing Sir

@victoriam97205 жыл бұрын
basically, you need to have the same denominators, so what he did was multiply 3/4 x 2= 6/8

Why did you solve this problem in the most complicated way possible? Why not separate the whole numbers and then add the fractions together? like 3-2+3/24+18/24-4/24 = 1+17/24. You didn't take the time to explain least common denominators or anything. I call for a redo. lol

How do you get 25/8 from 3*1/8? I get 3/8 as the result. Since i usually multiply the 3 by 1/8 not 3*8+1!!!! WHY!!! My hair line just moved, for your information.!!
@urfavsportsanalyst96714 жыл бұрын
Shadrick Kaluba That’s because the way he did it is the correct way you have to multiply the denominator times the mixed number then add the numerator Also you might wanna ask help from a teacher because that’s just how you solve it

why isn’t it a negative answer?
@milkshake5494 жыл бұрын
It's simple. If you look at the whole numbers of the positive and negative fractions, (3 and -2) the positive number (3) is greater than the negative number (2) if you subtract 2 from 3 you get 1. You don't go under zero to get to your answer.
