Did you scrape the green hair algae or did the Chaeto out compete it?
@JoesCoralReef6 жыл бұрын
I did a water change and tried to scrape off as much of the green hair algae as I could.

Nice Joe. I soak mine for a few hours and that seems to keep it together a bit better. It seems that no matter how you do it, it usually settles out to clear water in less than a day. But never, never "get er done" bud. lol

You should have let the plastic bags float. The bags are just meant to keep the water from agitating the mud... lol :) When you pushed it back down on the floor mud, you stirred it up a bit unintentionally. But DON'T prewash... lots of good trace minerals and organics... :)

Hey Joe, nice job! Just curious - what material are you using for your white sump cover?
@JoesCoralReef6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. For the sump covers I am using pvc. I found it at homedepot. It cuts very easy. I used a table saw to cut it up and then routed the edges.

Nice video. Just curious, looks like you have 3 return lines running into your sump. What are the other 2 for?
@JoesCoralReef6 жыл бұрын
Tim's Tank Thank You. I’m running a bean animal type overflow. So the first return line is the primary drain, which is under suction. The second one basically only has a trickle of water. The third is an emergency drain.

You don't really need that much. This stuff adds nutrients to the water. Three or four cups is good enough. Too many nutrients in the water causes problems including algae. Remember the saying (nothing whit excess everything whit measurement.)
