Adding Paper to Jesmonite

Heyyy lovelies, In this video I am showing you how I added paper to Jesmonite. I first did a test run a couple of weeks ago just testing out a small area. It seemed to work well so i wanted to explore more.
Putting paper in Jesmonite was successful. I have only tried thicker papers and not yet thin. I would highly recommend cutting around your images as seen in the video. The Aesthetic of course is personal preference however I found the paper rip left too much of a harsh line between the two. I also recommend that you press your papers flat for a couple of days before laying in Jesmonite. .

Oh Claire, that paper worked so well. I love the effect of the town piece but, yes the rest of the coaster needs something because it didn't marble. I also love the cut around the flowers result! Gorgeous colour combination, pretty in pink! 🥰🥰

Love these! I absolutely love watching your videos Claire because you are an amazing artist and you are not afraid to experiment and share what works and well and what you would do differently if it doesn't go to plan the first time. Wanted to give you a suggestion when you're cutting out shapes from craft cardstock or paper. After you cut them out, place them upside down, or face down on a brown paper bag, put another paper bag on top of it and iron it with your clothing iron. It just works, at least it always has for me. That way you don't have to press them for days between heavy books.

I have found from another creator to use Clark’s Soapstone and slab wax sealer and it works! I purchased on Amazon. Beautiful coasters and so creative!!!

Hi Claire! I have seen paper like this at Michaels here in the USA. I haven't bought any yet, but after seeing the results you got with them, I will most definitely give this a try. Like you, I'm concerned about the color bleeding into resin as well as being a bit distorted. But you have shown me that I needn't worry about it with aqua resin. I will be trying this next week and I'm very excited to see what I can do with it. The flower patterns you chose were perfect with the pink. I like the one you cut out the best. Love them. They're so pretty! If you want to fussy-cut and not have all of the bending/curling of the paper you can cut with an X-acto knife on a cutting mat and that should help keep the paper flatter. I also think that once I got used to it (which didn't take me long) it was much easier than fussy-cutting with even detail scissors. I always think what you do is just beautiful. Hiya Claire 👋🏼 hope you good? Another great video... Do you have a PO box that patrons can send you things? I wonder whether this would work with tissue paper? I know it's a much smaller gsm but I use napkins for decoupage that is fiddly but stands up really well, and you can use water to tear away the areas you wanna use or not use, I really liked both coasters, the subtle marble on the left one is lush xx

I didn’t mind the look of the ripped effect..maybe if marbled may have given it a bit of something or perhaps like an ombré or flicks but outside of that I still think it’s a great effect 🤗

I liked the cut out one better with the pink backing. I think the other one looked too harsh where the white paper met the pink. If I were to try this I think I would take the time to cut out the flowers with a knife to get more precision, and probably more frustration to boot...

How well does the paper hold up to wear and tear/washing? It would be a complete waste if it just rubs off the surface over time...

It sealed well ... jesmonite shouldn't be washed.... Just wipe clean.

What sealer do you recommend for the jesmonite? Looked on the polycil website and the one I think isn’t available, do you recommend any others? Love love love your work, watching your videos got me to try jesmonite and love more than resin I think
