I saved up pallets the week after that video of Laura installing that walk way went out and installed my own .. its no where near as long and winding as Laura's but I love it ..adds that touch of whimsy and nobody comments on the decking that was a pain to install and cost a fortune,, they all comment on the pallet path haha. I think that chicken coup area is my favourite also. She always has it looking amazing

Hi Laura. Love watching you every day from Canberra Australia, your garden is so beautiful and even though I've been gardening for 37 years or more I learn so much from your videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge and inspiration with us all. I love the stone, can't wait to see it go down. Perhaps some of the brown stone could be used as you step out of the cut flower shed, like a small patio area I guess you could call it, not big, just more of a landing than anything. Thanks again for sharing your journey.

PLEASE DO A REACTION VIDEO to your last garden tour of the old house before moving day! Laura mentioned so many plants she doesn't have at the new house...(black swan birch, etc) and I'd love to get her reaction to rewatching this tour and remembering old plants...Aaron's reaction too would be funny about the filming differences.

@@ivytippit6181 it's hard to tell without more information, but maybe all is not lost. I got a single phlox stem plus roots from Grandma's garden and left it unplanned for the entire summer. In the fall I stuck it in a pot and left it until the following Spring. Finally I remembered mid-summer and it showed some growth. I planted it in the garden that Fall, and it has been growing better and better each year. I have even split it several times to spread it around the garden.

Old stories about the Calycanthus are that they were planted near outdoor privies because they perfumed the area. I have two and they are incredible. I'm in zone 5. One is a red, not sure of the variety, the other is yellow flowers w/citrus smell called Athens. Part sun/part shade and pretty protected. Our soil is acidic.

I tried the poppy seed planting in February, just threw the seeds down on top of the snow in my rose circle garden. Then forgot about them. Saw a little growth this spring and thought, huh that's a funny looking weed! Almost pulled them out but remembered that's where I threw the seeds. They are blooming their heads off and so pretty! They are corn poppies, and read they are the original Flanders Field poppies. Thank you so much for the idea!! Love them so much!!

That’s the thing that usda zones don’t tell you. They tell you how cold it gets, but not how HOT it gets, and how that affects what you can grow well. I live in a zone 6 also, but it is much milder, and hardly ever drought conditions. I notice things grown here, with zero problems and attention, give other gardeners I watch trouble in the heat. I don’t have irrigation for my plants, but I just hose water every 2 days if it hasn’t rained. If it has rained in those two days, I don’t water at all unless something looks like it needs it. It is so interesting watching the differences in gardening, even in the same zones. Your plants look lovely. Thanks for sharing! Your videos are the highlight of my mornings. ❤️

While hot, crayon box orange and an annual, I like "Mexian sunflower" or Tithonia for filling a space reasonably fuss-free. I think you can get it in additional colors now too. I usually start it from seed and in some sort of a seed starting tray/ container until about 4"-6" high when planting in the heat of the summer.

I checked the soil for moisture and it seemed fine, not dry yet, so I postponed watering as I too often overwater. After I watched today's GA I went out and watered them. Unsure where I will plant it! LOL. Laura's "Astible shame" made me think that would be a great idea for a video when projects slow down. Viewers could send in photos of their disasters and issues. We could all then commiserate. Perhaps even a video where people send in their photos of garden spots looking for advice on what to plant. As always, your videos bring a bright spot to my day and really inspire me to venture out on these summer days when the humidity and heat are so oppressive., As my husband is fond of saying, you are my best imaginary friend. I have that variety of calycanthus! In the Chicago land area. Part sun. Chelated iron once every year. They grow fast and are covered in flowers every year! Love it. Smells like melon!

I have a sweet shrub in my garden and it’s about 5ft tall. It’s beautiful and smells great. I cut mine back in the fall and it grows right back in the spring/summer. Mine is in full sun. Good luck with yours.

It was a perfect choice planting Calycanthus Aphrodite in your south garden. I have a dozen or so planted in drifts in my garden in both sun and shade...beautiful result.

I also tried her method of winter sowing poppies and didn’t get one plant so am glad to know what to do.

I am glad to hear that you will keep the pallet walkway. That area is very comfortable to look. Your new plants are also very nice. I loved seeing samantha's tricycle in the walkway. I guess she loves riding it.

It’s fun watching you & Aaron develop your garden. I love hearing you think out loud about your plant selections and locations because I learn from it. Please consider adding a few tropicals. Perhaps that’ll come when you begin planting inside your green house.

👋🌞Good Monday morning, Laura! It's an early, quiet morning for me, sipping an iced coffee and watching you plant your wonderful selection of flowers.🤩 Yes, you have been spoiled, with your temperatures, this year! I know that you enjoyed and truly appreciated them, while they lasted!!!🤗 The rain, I have been begging you to send me, finally showed up yesterday.😉 I guess, I should have specified to you, Priority Mail and not Pony Express.😂🤣 It was GLORIOUS and sooooooo badly needed, here in the Arizona desert. OMGEEEEE, that Aphrodite Calycanthus is spectacular🤩🤩🤩🤩 Yaaaay, it will grow in my Zone 9!!!!! Everything looks amazing, where you planted them! The gardens are filling in so beautifully!!!🥰 Thank you, Laura, for taking us along while you planted!! Have a Blessed and Beautiful day everyone p! Kimberley F in Avondale, AZ (Zone 9b) 🌞🌵💞

No, they said in the tour they were going to level the area out more. So, I figure it could be another week or so.
