Are you looking to gain a little edge when you’re inshore fishing?
Do you fish at night, or in dark or murky water?
Then you might want to consider adding rattles to your soft plastics.
It’s quick, easy, and is a great little trick to have up your sleeve!
When fish can’t see well, such as at night or in dark or murky water, they rely on other senses, such as hearing or feeling vibrations in the water to track down their food.
So when you add rattles to your soft plastic, it makes it much more likely that it’ll catch a fish’s attention in these situations.
The problem is, it can be tricky to put these rattles in your lure while still allowing for its normal action in the water.
In this video, I’ll share with you exactly how to insert rattles into your plastic lure, plus I’ll reveal a secret ninja trick I use that helps these rattles stay inside Z-Man lures.
Enjoy!

Again, I don’t know if y’all check comments on older posts, but would you ever use a knife or hook point to create a small hole to help ease the rattle into the soft plastics? Thank you for the constant tips, hints, and tricks on using soft plastics. Great video and keep up the great work!

Yes, we often use the hook point and barb to help create a tunnel for the rattles to go into. (I don't recommend using a knife because it'll create too wide of a slit)

I Use a spent 22lr brass to pull out a slug then slip it in the hole. Especially the 5/6mm. Maybe a small Dia copper pipe, or a small straw could work? I know this comment was a year ago... might help someone else..

Great video, Tony. Keep in mind when using glass rattles, they will break if are skipping docks or mangroves and it hits something, so check them frequently. Ask me how I know...

Cool video but it's even cooler that y'all have your own line of soft baits now. I just ordered the new Alabama Leprechaun jerk shad from the promo and I can't wait to try them. We'll see if bass like them until I get back to the saltwater. Should be soon.

I wouldn't recommend it, just because there isn't much meat for the rattle to go into.

Knockin Tail Lures come with a rattle already in the tail. No hassle and with it in the tail it will rattle on a steady retrieve. No twitching required.
