In the beginning of the video I state the rack can hold “Three 15-gallon jugs plus another 4-gallons.” What I meant to say was that the rack can hold three 5 gallon jugs totaling 15 gallons, with the addition of 4 gallons equaling a total of 19 gallons.

Knew exactly what you meant. Very thorough. Never tried pouring while on the ski as you mentioned. Guess if you had to add fuel on Bimini trip that might be only option. Not sure how an UNREP would go between two Jet Skis.
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
@@edwardbowles8613 haha you’d need a big funnel..or there would be spillage. It’s almost impossible to refuel on the water with the blitz 5 gallon jugs without the flame arrestor valve..I think this ski would make it to Bimini on one tank though, riding in decent conditions and in MPO

Just want to say a big thank you to you JD. I just used this same setup. Just did a 4 day trip from Huntington Long Island to Canada up the Hudson River. Straps never loosened and Rotopaxs never budged. It is a heavy set up, but I think the ski rode better.

Man slapping this rack on the new 160LX-S would make a hell of an offshore explore rig, with the N/A fuel burn plus the proven hull. Probably makes a better offshore explore run than the sea doo explorer pro.

Nice set up JD. Quick question ,just completely emptied my tank on my lx ultra. Just thought the fuel,about 20liters might be very old and l dont know if these engines dont like old fuel. Do l need to get fuel in it pronto, or is it ok empty for a while, fuel is expensive just now,and might be cheaper in another week or two and will not use it for 2 weeks, this also will be my first time on it since l bought it last autumn. If ok empty fuel cap just on loose, so fumes can come out ??
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
It’s better to keep it empty than to keep the tank full of old fuel. I am not sure if your fuel over there has ethanol or not, but fuel containing ethanol, reeks havoc on the fuel system, because of phase separation. No need to leave the gas cap open the tank has an integral vent.
@swedishkev Жыл бұрын
@@JDsWaterWorld There is ethanol in the 95 fuel we use, but only 5%.So ok, to leave it empty for 10 days, the ski is not in direct sunlight and has the cover over it. At least when l put fuel in, it is very fresh.
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Yes, fresh fuel is always best. And the tank has its own vent so it will vent to atmosphere as needed- keep the cap closed so nothing gets in 👍🏻

I know only two gallons but how well do those cans pour? I cling to my old cans with actual separate vent caps like gold. Hate pouring from the new EPA Al Gore cans.
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Lol. Well my 5 gallon jugs are the old style now-illegal Blitz jugs and they are a bitch to pour if sitting on the ski/ almost impossible while on the ski. These rotopax do have a self venting epa nozzle, but the on-off collar (it’s really a flame arrestor) is nice to control fuel flow while standing on the ski. Slow though…
@solarchild1 Жыл бұрын
@@JDsWaterWorld i wanted to remind anyone using the old blitz jugs they are nowhere near as srong as the rotopax containers, bouncy around in 90 degree heat can make 10psi or higher in the container

I'm buying this week. The 2 gallons are $15 cheaper now. My question is can the rack support 3 gallon and if so should I get them?
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
You need the mount extender from rotopax but yes it will fit. Up to you- depends how much extra fuel you want. Each 2 gallon jug gives you “1 bar” on the fuel meter

We're making a run from Grand Portage on Superior and riding into Canada this August with a group of 6 of us. I've configured the rack with the two, two gallon rotopax jugs. If I were to be the tanker for the group, I might add on three 5 gallon jugs instead of the cooler. Are there specific 5 gallon jugs that would be recommended as a good fit for this rack?
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Have you seen this video? I use the Blitz jugs but they are the old style ones without the flame arrestors- which you actually want since the ones in my video are impossible to pour without spilling - due to the angle of the fill spout. The spouts on the Rotopax allow for on-water filling if needed. The Kawasaki Genuine Cargo Rack for the 2022+ Kawasaki Ultra 160/310 LX and LX-S with Ultra Deck kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqPbp3ePpceVnKc
