44:19 Where do you think Ben should put the Skull cast?
@patrickwilliams3108Ай бұрын
Well ... I really think that you're at the "kitchen sink" on this guitar. What would the skull cast add versus how much of a distraction will it cause? Will it bring something to the instrument or break up the already existing great lines? Does it add to the aesthetic of the piece and it's design rationale or is it just "getting dressed up to get messed up?"So, my vote is: find something else to do with it.
@scottishgentlemen6038Ай бұрын
Headstock, or fretboard inlay. There is frankly more than enough already going on with the body of that guitar. Ben, you're stressing me tf out with those lasers pointing at your eyes. 😂
@dh88cometАй бұрын
On the front scratch plate by the bridge pickup so it looks like part of the plate sort of pressed through.
This guitar is much like the Cyberpunk game. Didn't work right at the start but got made a lot better a while later.

I used to route wires externally like that on my experimental builds. I too used to use CA glue, but found it tears up both the finish and wires if you have to undo or redo the work. I later switched to using small brass nails bent to create mini hold-down brackets. The nails can be removed and re-installed without messing things up.

Amazing advice, thank you very much.

One could also use aluminium tubing. Make them look like industrial piping with brackets an all. I do think the way Simon did it looks cool though.
@ianthomson9363Ай бұрын
I love the new additions! I always liked the original guitar, but I too am a sucker for smoke and lasers. I wasn't sure about the wiring on the back, but it's been done so well I'm now converted. The copper mesh looks great and as I'm in the planning stage of making a new clear acrylic backplate for my bass I'll be most interested in what you do with yours and will probably steal the idea.

Personally, I don't feel like the skull is necessary. The guitar is already pretty busy, kind of a lot going on. lol This was one of my favorite projects you ever did, and it's awesome to see you returning to it. Back in the day you had this orange aerospace hexagonal mesh stuff that you thought about putting in the... F holes? I guess is kinda what those are? lol I was very disappointed when you chose not to do it. I thought that was gonna look really cool. I don't suppose you still have that stuff around? Maybe you could try to work it in somewhere? I really like how the new wires look, they really accentuate the cyberpunk vibe. The new switches are a little shiny though. I hate to suggest this, because you have a proclivity for taking things too far, but perhaps you could find a way to dirty them up some? (Please don't burn them! lmfao) Great work guys. Final suggestion; perhaps after you're done upgrading the Cyberpunk guitar (which I'm just now realizing is really appropriate, given that Cyberpunk 2077 has been massively upgraded since the start of this project as well lmfao), you could build a sequel? Start from the ground up building something new, with Sam's electronics knowledge in mind?

Thank you. I'm really glad you've enjoyed this build. All good suggestions. Part 3 is still in progress so all I can say is, wait and see what happens next...

I also don't think the skull is necessary. Cool idea that could live wonderfully on a different build. The changes you have made so far are outstanding IMHO, and there is a really nice balance and cohesion to the elements on the guitar now. It fits the over the top cyberpunk aesthetic perfectly. ... The skull and bones needs to be on the t-shirt of the person playing it. 😎

At 13 minutes I felt sure I was about to watch Ben glue his lips to the wires. How cool would it have looked if each of the wire coverings was different colours? Then at 45 minutes I definitely thought Ben was going to blind himself by having a laser shine right into his eye - pushing back the project a few more months. It does look amazing though.

Maybe use magnets for the backplate for quick access?? Or would that fuck with the pickups?? I don't know, but I do vape and find that magnetic covers are commonly used on devices where you need to swap out batteries at regular intervals.

I can't play a guitar but it's the building and improving the guitar till your unable to improve your build any more and you're able to say that that peticuler guitar is the best it can be. So to see Ben look outside the box and find inspiration from learning new skills and to overcome their problems is fantastic to watch and I hope it inspires other luthiers into looking at their own builds😊👌🧡

@@CrimsonCustomGuitars I watch you because you are the guitar builder who teaches and show everyone what you do even your mistakes and unlike American luthiers they seem to just repair gibson or fender guitars which as they're supposedly in American eyes the best in the world why do so many gibsons get broken necks and why is it that the only thing that they seem to be able to do to to make their guitars stand out is buy changing the Finish the American luthier seem to not be able to look outside the box or is it that their afraid that they will be sued by Gibson 🤔🤣🤣

reservoir, a coil of resistance wire through which a cotton wick runs, which needs to stay wet and a cool air blown over the coil to stop it burning the cotton. This whole thing is an I'll-thought shambles.

I don't get why you continue with stuff like this, you undoubtedly build some beautiful and aesthetically pleasing guitars, but when you start on gimmicks like lights, foil, smoke etc... it all turns to shit and makes you look like an amateur builder, which you're clearly not.
