I have an incredible Chibson with EMG branded pickups. My guitar shop couldn’t tell it was fake. They are getting better at it.

I have a 2006 American deluxe sunburst strat with the LSR roller that looks exactly like yours. It’s my favorite Strat I’ve ever played. Stays in tune better than my Les Paul and every bit as good as my double locking Ibanez’s with original edge bridges. I considered going with a bone nut when I first bought the guitar after reading on line about people giving the LSR nut a bad rap but glad I stuck with it. Amazing guitar!!! Trust your own experiences before buying into crap on the internet!!!

cant take a scrawny little band nerd with a tattooed bald head and a gross beard seriously. His look is definitely better for radio or podcast.

The only guitar that I have that do not have roller nuts are the ones where I can not fit them due to the radius or size. You can not beat physics. The tunning stability is amazing. Not only that, I always go also for the roller saddles and the locking tuners.

To relic something authenticly you have to use the tool that creates the same effect in the real world. So belt buckle for the back, heavy chain bracelet for the hardware and finish. The checking would have looked much more realistic if he'd used heat and cold which is how it happens in the real world.
Tin can also be ironed out easily using an old iron that gets sufficiently hot.

You should clarify that the orientation of the bridge screws is wrong on the Supreme, but not for other models.

This is the first fake I have seen that has fret nibs.. worrying but there are many other tell tale signs as you rightfully pointed out. It is worrying that for many a year now, these Chinese factories get away with selling fake guitars. All these guitars that are branded made in the USA when they are in fact made in the Far East, should be destroyed by Customs and the buyers fined heavily. That will stop the endless dropping of fake stuff into Europe. Same goes for clothing, parfums, watches, etc and stolen goods. As long as people buy them, the market will not cease to exist. If you could be fined for buying these goods, people will tread more carefully, I think. If you want a cheaper alternative to an original Gibson, buy a Japanese made Tokai instead, but it has to be made in Japan. Or, spend less, and buy a Tokai that is crafted elsewhere. In any case, you will get value for money and it is your budget that will determine how good a guitar you can buy. Or go for a vintage Japanese made Orville by Gibson, Tokai, Greco, Burny or even Aria Pro. Those are all well crafted guitars and value for the money, IMHO.

Hey Ben, so I'm working on an electric double cut build. Bubinga body and ziricote top, absolutely stunning woods. However I'm worried about how to best finish the ziricote. I've done some tests with tru oil but it just makes the wood extremely dark and diminishes the grain. After reading up about ziricote it seems that the wood naturally has a high oil content. Any advice would be appreciated.

Fair to say that I totally understand you. Job wise and mental attitude. The drive and determination, the perfection and the head fucks. You can't do what you do, think how you do, produce what you do without being you. What you deal with, I know and share. But what you create is beyond words. It's just art! I'm a tech, but I learn so much from you. My new found career is basically My knowledge and ideas. But, also and massively so, your teaching vids. My tools are 90% crimson made. I feel bad in a way. I would love to have come and do your courses. I know I'd be better for doing so. But as you know, being a guitar tech is a vow of poverty! It's a living, and I love the job so much. Thanks to you, COVID and losing so much turned into a new trade for me. Thanks Ben, you give so much in teaching and teaching in life skills too. P.S. one hell of a guitar.

every time I hear something about this movie, I keep remembering that quip from multiverse of madness: "Fantastic Four? Didn't you guys chart in the 60s?" I wonder if thst was just a throw-away joke, or did Strange actually see the Fantastic Four in one or more of those 14 million possible futures he looked through in Infinity War?

I have built a few kits, and the one thing that seems to make a huge difference is roller string trees for shallow-break guitars. I have a $200 kit that looks like a $20 toss away, but plays like a $1000 guitar. Not the trees without rollers, the ones WITH actual rollers. aliXpress can be your friend. Bone nuts, locking tuners....they are all dirt cheap and of decent quality to make your kit or cheap guitar well playable into the next decade.

If Gibson could actually make a $3500 guitar that was the quality of a guitar that was worth $3500, then the Chinese copies wouldn’t have such an appeal. People appear to be okay with some body imperfections in a guitar they trick out with aftermarket parts, rather than pay an exorbitant amount for a guitar of middling quality with almost no quality control at the luthier before it is shipped. I would never waste my money on a modern Gibson. But I would buy an Edwards Gibson copy before I would buy a Chibson though
