Adding some privacy to the backyard. We BOUGHT AND PLANTED 6 Emerald Green Arborvitaes!

In this video, we wanted to add some privacy along the back of our fence since it is only a chain-link fence. Instead of replacing it with a privacy wood fence, we decided to add a green border instead! We bout 6 Emerald Green Arborvitaes and planted them ourselves. Although they wont be fully mature for several years, they break up the back fence line nicely, adding some instant privacy.

Great Video! Just ran into you guys as I was searching for yard ideas. Btw, the privacy trees came out great on that huge back yard. Good luck the rest of the way- I guess I'll have to watch more videos (to see how hard Chris has to work-☺), Love the team work though!

@robedmund9948
@robedmund9948 3 ай бұрын
@@toronto690 Depends on how well your soil drains. Clay soil really needs to be amended. I put about 2-3 gallons per tree two to three times a week until they are established, but our soil is pretty decent. Keep an eye on the foliage. It should feel soft to the touch. If it gets harder, increase your watering. If it turns yellow, decrease.

Hey I live in Shepherdsville, KY and I do landscaping. I’m learning from you on how long it may take and how hard it may be for two people. This will be my first time planting tall evergreens for a client. They also want privacy from their neighbors and some protection from heat on one side of their house.

Hey Chris and Laura, I had a tree stumping I needed to get rid of and this is what I did. I drilled a bunch of holes with the largest drill bit I had and poured water in there any time I thought of it. It did take a bit, but it didn’t cost a thing

The plants are doing great. There were some brown spots throughout them at the beginning of the year but I think that was from lack of water. We don’t have a drip system and didn’t do a consistent job of watering. But this spring and summer they have been doing great! We got lots of rain and we can really tell they have grown. We will video it soon for an update!

How are the trees making out now after a year? Did the nursery say it’s OK to bury with burlap? I have mine with burlap and not sure if landscaper knows what he’s doing or was just lazy, but he said It is biodegradable and the roots will be able to grow still. Have 17 of them so hopefully all is well 🙏🏻

They are doing great! Our nursery said we could leave it or cut it off. Main thing was just to cut the ropes so it doesn’t restrict growth. We haven’t had an issue with ours thankfully. Best of luck!

Im thinking of planting thujas (brandon cedars) 2 feet away from the fence. But it will make it very tight to the saskatoons. What to do? Pls help

If Texas is 130%, and Kentucky is 65%, florida should be 20%… easiest way to dig a hole in florida is with a water hose 😂. Unfortunately these gorgeous trees you planted will not grow in zone 9a… I know. I’ve been looking for something I like to cover 120 feet no more than 12-15 foot high

Can I ask how much each tree costed. I was just looking the other day at purchasing some of these tress and they wanted almost $200 for a 3-4 foot tree. I could get the 1 foot trees for $20 but I don't want to wait 10 years for them to fully mature enough to actually provide privacy.. But the $200 a tree is a little out of my price range. I'm looking to plant about 15 trees.
