Adding Sound to your C4D File | A Cinema 4D Quick Tip

A quick tutorial on how to add sound to your Cinema 4D files. It's super easy, but for some reason it's tricky to find! I talk about using a Null object and the timeline to create a layer for your sound to be on, and also how to use the mograph sound effector to add sound.

Helpful tip: if your audio starts stuttering or repeating itself on playback, click and hold a button located below your viewport called simply "Project" (it's a button with an A above 4 small squares). Once you are clicking and holding, disable the "All frames" option. It worked for me! Great tutorial, Mel!

I’m not sure but I don’t think you can record voice in C4D. You’d have to bring it in from somewhere else.

Hmmm...Could be you’re not in the attributes panel. If you look at the tabs to the right of where it’s supposed to be, check to make sure you’re on attributes (use shift+F5 if it’s not there). Also, make sure the sound is highlighted on your timeline. Let me know if that works!

My guess is that the scene file is too heavy for C4D to playback audio in real-time. If you have textures, deformers, or generators you may want to try turning them off to help with audio playback. C4D isn’t the perfect place to edit to audio, but hopefully this helps a little!

If you look at the bottom of your screen, there is a bar, on the left it will say 0 F and the right probably says 90 F, this is your preview frame range. So if you increase the number on the right from 90 F (which is 3 sec) to whatever number you need, you will be able to preview the entire thing. Hope that helps!

As much as I love cinema its a very funny software, this is a very crude method of adding sound. Maya requires you to just drag from desktop or any were and drop, smh.
