It is awesome that you are supporting "Folds of Honor." As a retired Navy vet, I remember a time in the 70s when the Navy suspended the requirement to travel in uniform because of the vitriol directed to service members in airports and other travel venues. It is encouraging to see that a lot of that has changed. Thank you for supporting the fallen and wounded.

It is absolutely incredible what you two have done alone. But of all that work that you have built, with so much effort and wisdom, what I like the most, and I admire about you ... is the contact of your children with nature and especially with animals. I live in Barcelona, Spain where bullfighting is the national holiday. Your affection shared with your children, and protection and care of animals, surprises me and it is something that has made me very happy ... a lot. Families like you need them here. Thank you for your humanity, your kindness and wished you a life full of love. You are the best. I love you.

Having a bit of fall in the stair tread is not really noticeable when walking the stairs, but will help water drain off the treads. That’s good for rain and melting snow and ice! I’m afraid your blocking at the base of the stairs is going to trap moisture and lead to early rot of the blocking and deck boards. I would suggest to put a deck board spacer in between that is not fastened and pull it out after fastening the blocking in just above the deck. Also put a bit of tilt on it too.
@dk2614
@dk2614 3 жыл бұрын
I hate to sound shady but I think Josh is obsessed with perfection and being perfectly square. I believe that blocking is to satisfy the perfectionist in him. Agree that without adequate airflow rot will take out the deck far quicker than being out of square.

Glad to see the commitment to safety glasses. Now I can fully enjoy watching you work without cringing. Several decades down the road I can see you guys sitting in chairs on that deck holding hands and remembering how you worked together and built your place with you’re own hands. Y’all are surely lovable folks!

You do good work! A little overkill in my opinion but those steps will never sag, jiggle or buckle!

You guys enlighten me and my wife with the sheer passion towards building the house inch by inch yourself although there are other KZbin channels who have been working on similar projects but end up taking help for roofing or plumbing etc. U guys have done a tremendous job in the recent years and I'm delighted to see what's coming next. You guys are the reason why we both decided to try and diy most of our construction. However we live in the other side of the world and there's too many challenges which we unfortunately can't get a hold off. God bless your beautiful family and give you guys good health... :-)
