Unfortunately it looks as if your clam was glued on that rock if so it probably died by now. But in my experience they set themselves up next to hard rocks without being on them all the way facing the strongest part of the water flow. Yes my young ones moved to strange locations then never moved again. By young I mean I apparently had male and female in the tank and I got a few babies.

Nice clam and the tanks looks gorgeous. I bought a Maxima clam (which was also attached to a frag stone) September last year. In March it moved off the frag stone and "walked" a couple of centimeters to the glass. Since then the mantle is fuller and I see crazy growth. So I'm not removing it. The only thing is that in that spot I cannot clean the glass :-)

@@richardportelli1983 yeah that's a live phyto. They can also consume the nitrate & phosphate in the tank. Can a clam survive with just weekly water changes and the occasional phytoplankton dose?
@user-rk3id2zf8c3 жыл бұрын
If its big enough they can rely only on photosynthesis, adding phytoplankton never hurts. If you're calcium output isn't that big weekly water change should do.
@BlueReefTank3 жыл бұрын
What J said is correct. I try to keep my alkalinity and calcium high by dosing Sodium Bicarbonate and adding Kalkwasser in my ATO reservoir.

How do u keep ur surface skimmed?
@BlueReefTank3 жыл бұрын
I make sure that I don't fill too much water, and that my first filter chamber is not blocked. I had the same issue last time where the water surface is accumulating with dust. All I did was I make sure I don't use a thick filter floss so the water can run through them easily.

@@BlueReefTank are u usin intake media basket!?
@BlueReefTank3 жыл бұрын
@@GoLeafs03 I was using one of those 3d printed filter cup for a while. I stuffed it up with a thick layer of filter floss thinking that it will provide better filtration. Turns out it's blocking the flow and causes the surface agitation to be very minimal. Not long after that all the dust started floating and as soon as I took out a few layer of the floss, the water started flowing again and the dust is gone too. Hope that helps 🙂

Love your style of video’s, but please, never take the clam out of the water like that. Clams can’t regulate them selfs when oxygen get’s trapped underneath their mantel and they will die :/ there ways to “burp” them, but in my opinion it’s beter to either show that in a video, or mention the importance of not taking them out of the water.
