My grandmother is from Tigray and grandfather Eritrean. I would hear stories about how life was simple but wholesame. Even though my grandmother eventually lived in the US during her later in her life due to war in her region, she missed her homeland so much and wished to be buried there.

Oh, how touching. I have two grandparents from Tigray, one settled during Menilik time as one of those who were given posts & lands and the other one was a merchant with his brothers who were ህግ ሊሂቃን...they both married Shewa Amhara women. I only knew one of my grandmothers growing up in Addis as they all passed away before I was born. I was raised by parents from mixed tribes born in Addis. This video was from the yr my dad was born and I can feel my ancestors walking the streets of Addis and living the good life. We all are testimonials of what Ethiopia was all about. I wish I could dig deeper & write a book.

@@Yeሀገር Please 🙏🏽 do write a book! Id be first in line to buy. My mom and entire maternal side are all Ethiopian, making me part Ethiopian. I wish so badly that I had more knowledge n memories of mine and my family's life in Ethiopia, past and present. Our Ethiopian history and memories needs to be preserved for future generations to discover, through our words about this alluring land with an immensely interesting culture, history and future.
