Bill, I have to say, I do not think I have appreciated how much extra work you and other video tubers put into a project to record what you are doing. WOW ! Thanks a lot because without you going the extra mile for all the different angles and lighting.....well, it's just adds a lot more work. That room is absolutely going to be a great add on; both you and Elizabeth are really going to enjoy it. Take care, stay safe and warm. May you both have a wonderful and blessed Christmas. From Justin, Texas

Yeah, if I take the time to film a project when I'm doing it, it can take as much as 50% longer! Then I still have to edit the video, and that can take hours. But hey... it's my job. LOL

The discharge vents always get installed at cold exterior walls, especially if the wall has a window, to prevent the convection effect and drafts. The is a circulating air draft caused by room air contacting the cool wall, sinking to the floor, and drawing air from the room, usually ceiling height, to set up a circular air flow. This not only creates uncomfortably cold drafts but also reduces the effective R-value of the wall. You really need to figure out a way to get that discharge vent up against the exterior wall.

Oh my word Bill. After watching that I might need a stiff drink 😄. I don’t drink & its 8 am, but WHEW! And when you said you had to shimmy your way back out just for a bit, I almost cried I’m thinking a small gas radiant heater would’ve been my answer OR cut a hole in the floor right above that main trunk 😉 Great work & interesting to watch as always

I freak out about under-the-floor work because I am clostrophobic! I don't like to be around snakes or mice or spiders but the main thing is being confined like that. I was okay with the first time under the addition, but had to skip the part under the house! But I still really enjoy all your videos, construction or whatever! Merry Christmas to your entire family! I guess it can snow now since the addition is weather-tight and you have heat! Good job!

Great job! Yes, a long HVAC duct run cuts down on heat flow, especially if the room is large. Some contractors recommend a mini split, which would be overkill in your case. They recommended a mini split for my 12x15’ addition. Instead I had they tie into my duct work and use a small radiant heater to take any chill off the room when temps drop down below freezing. Will see how things go come summer.

Once you get your wall board on that should help retain some heat in there too, I would think. I think you'll find that it will be okay. Like someone else said you'll be storing food in there so you want it to be a little cooler anyway. Then there is the dryer. That will be generating some heat on wash days.

If you need to supplement the heat, you could get an electric oil heater. One I’ve used looks like a radiator in an old house. It works well, doesn’t take up space, and wheels away for storage. It also doesn’t have coils that become red hot and present a fire hazard.
