where the wall is bowed just full it with no more gaps and paint it the colour of the walls - with the overhead cabinets no one will notice it - they will notice you are trying to hide something with 1/4 round - The new kitchen looks lovely

Absolutely started to cry knowing how thrilled you would be and how I felt when I got my granite. I always wanted a pretty kitchen that I could pick and wanted granite and so many patterns. Fifty years later I got to go and pick out granite and it's just as beautiful as yours only a different color......more goldish and has ruby rock in within it. Mine also has a swirl and designs and a I love it..........I find little figures in it all the time. Like seeing pictures in cloud formations, lol, I see different shapes all the time in my granite. LOL From animals, cats......all different types of things. So fun! LOL Liz, I am thrilled for you and can only imagine your delight......it's so fun to putter around in such beautiful surrounds. God bless you both and enjoy your home and the changes you are making.......I feel we have worked so hard all these years and kids grown and grandkids, it's fun to get to spoil ourselves a bit. How wonderful that your husband can do all these types of home reno.......he's got years of experience but now it's for the two of you to enjoy. How glorious! Enjoy!!!! Just delightful! That's a beautiful granite counter top! Wow! I love it! They did a wonderful seaming job not to mention how difficult it can be matching up a busy pattern! BTW, My husband who is 60 still installs these granite ( and quartz ) countertops,( not to mention that we also fabricate using materials such as Corian, Swanstone, etc..which I personally also fabricated and sanded ) I don't know how my husband still does it, but he's been saying lately that it's a young man's job and he's looking forward to the day when all he has to do is template, he doesn't mind fabricating although there is plenty of lifting in doing that as well but it definitely doesn't have the heft as quartz or granite. Anyway, sorry about the rambling, lol I really do love how your kitchen is shaping up! Looking forward to the next phase!

how sweet, Gena. A few years ago, a friend's pastor came to my daughter's house to give her a blessing, and he went around the room, giving each of us a blessing. When he came to me, he held my two hands, looked in my eyes and said, "God really LIKES you". It was like a revelation to him AND to me, but it was the most stunning sensation. To say, not God LOVES you, but He LIKES you. It was special in a startling way.

Watching you disconnect the water for the sink reminded me - everyone needs to know where their water shutoff valves are in case of emergencies - both at the sinks and to the house or apt. At our last apt the bathroom did not have one so hubby installed one.

There’s a pattern in your granite to the left of the sink that reminds me of a flower laying on its side and the flower part is pointing towards the sink. It is so pretty! The granite matches your cupboards so well too. Gorgeous!

Beautiful & stylish! Since you’ve never had granite countertops, just a brief comment. If you place something frozen on top to thaw out, the granite acts like a super heat sink & things thaw out very quickly! White walls would be stunning and make your room look larger.

What a gorgeous granite countertop! It will almost be a shame to put anything on it. I would be inclined to hide all the small appliances - e.g. toaster, coffer maker and blenders - under the counter and just take out when needed and only have a bowl of fruit left out on the counter (like you see on TV LOL) Those two young guys did a great job installing that countertop! Got to be young and fit to do that kind of work.

That is so beautiful! When we first moved to the Piedmont in 1995, we were amazed at all of the granite quarries around. There was a big one in Mt. Airy (Mayberry) NC and we liked seeing their displays out front of what they could pull out of the ground. Then the countertop craze started but I never could land somewhere where I could justify new counters. I love your kitchen already!

Congrats y'all--the granite is amazing! The wait was well worth it-it is stunning and I know watching this on my iPhone isn't doing it justice. The craftsmanship of the seam is unreal. Those guys did a great job---I would have never been able to find that seam-it's invisible! Can't wait to see the upper cabinets installed. I guess you'll paint the walls though before you put them in-didn't mean to rush you Bill. 😊 No pressure-just excited to see the kitchen all "done up" as my great grandmother would say.
