Prerequisites:
Addition Chart 5
Materials:
Addition Chart 6 / Blank Chart
container with all the Addition problems of Chart 3
red box of tiles with numbers 2 - 18 (sums of the addition problem)
Presentation:
Invite the child to bring Addition Chart 6 or the Blank Chart
Invite the child to bring the red box with the number tiles and the small box with equations
Open the red box and take out all the tiles
Arrange them by numbers 2 - 18, placing the same number in the same column forming a pyramid
Open the box with equations
Take one out and read it
Place your fingers in the corresponding addends
Slide the fingers until they meet
Make a pause and think about the answer
Leave one finger on the square
With your other hand, pick up the tile with the correct sum and place it on the square
Place the equation in the lid and take out another one
The guide does 2 or 3 more, then invites the child to continue
When done, invite the child to bring Addition Work Chart 3 to check his work
This can be done with 2 children after they have worked with it individually
Note:
When putting it back, pile the squares by numbers
