Addons Linker | Easy Sim Updates in Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS 2020

When I switched from MFS on Xbox to PC Addons Linker was the greatest thing that I discovered. 1.3TB neatly sorted and organized by type, location, profiles, etc. Instead of manually creating junction links Addons Linker does it all for you. The advanced tools to keep everything clean is a great feature as well. This is software that I would gladly pay for. Great stuff 👍

One of my favorite features I discovered after I had been using Addon Linker for awhile was the 'scenery map' toolbar button. Absolutely love this program!

Addon linker is great, thanks for sharing! Another banging video, my friend. For those that don't have addon linker, simply rename community folder to 'communityold', and the sim will create a new empty 'community' folder for you so that you can safely update msfs.

Addons Linker is simply a must have for anyone using mods for MSFS.. As I currently hover around 3.45TB of addons, ModelLib Changer and MaterialLib Changer solve so many errors for me.

Hi nice review, I've been using this program for a while and it's must have for sure, i've learn a new trick for SU updates. One thing worries me, I have also some planes from Justflight, PMDG 737 and 777, navigraph, and when installing them, a directory was automatically created in the Community folder. Now, if I update those addons and I've moved the folders in my Add-ons linker folder, will there be a conflict, since they will probably put files again in the Microsoft community folder. The FlyByWire for exemple, is asking you where is your community folder, i have then the chance to specify the one that I'm using for addons linker. So, what happen each time you update your warrior for exemple ? Do you need to move folders eveytime your doing an update of addons ?Thanks

I second the vote for a sequal around using Addons Linker for the Official folder. I've used it for a couple of years, but not seen someone use it beyond the Community folder links. Including advanded features would be good too. Have used some, and they're equally great, but there may be more. Thanks!

With Addons Linker, when installing with installers like Just Flight, or Simmarket, or ORBX central, addons are still installed fully in Community, but then you need to move them into your addons folders? Am I correct? And when updating an addon via an installer, what do you do?

I have a custom 'Community folder (F: MSFS 2020>Community so do I need to add anything in the 'My Addons Folders' box in Tools>Options>My Addons Folders? Not planning on adding add-ons to a custom folder.

I also had the problem in the last few days that everything was jerky although I had good fps. Every change with the settings or every change with new airports and new airplanes (addonLinker) you should empty the shader cache (with Frame gen Mod )

A question about the presets, so when I select a flight in MFS , it automatically loads the scenery I created for the preset and the aircraft?

Yeah, you can use it to love your official folder stuff to another drive and link it back. Saves a ton of space. I can do that!

what if i updated the sim first because i didnt know about this will i able to do it again? meaning start all over and deleting the community folder first and them updating sim update 15 again?

I don't have option in preset to create an empty preset, just create new folder. Any Ideas?

I never had any issues with updates. However, I would like to avoid future ones, thus this app is perfect. But for the life of me, I can't change the permissions on my community folder, so I am not allow to cut and paste the contents of the community folder into another folder. Any suggestions?

When I try add my aircrafts to D:\MSFS\Addons\Aircrafts it says I dont have enough space on my C:\

I'm interested to know why you have your official folder in addon linker. Have you set it up to select certain asobo default aircraft etc?

Hey! I moved them to my D drive because my C drive is only 500GB, so I did it to free up space. It's one of the advanced things you can do with Addon Linker. I may do a video on it.

I did everything but MSFS doesnt see the addons. They are not shown in MSFS although the links are in the Community folder.

That's weird. When you click on the links in the community folder do you get to the folder with the addon content in it?

With Addons Linker, what happens when an addon has an update that linked to the Community folder? Will it automatically find the new location due to the link or do I have to change the path in the respective stores like Orbx, Inibuilds, etc?

You can link to those folders on your PC (like Orbx, Simmarket, etc.), and when something in them is updated you just hit the refresh button like I did in the video and it’s all good. Very, very easy.

Why not just rename community folder , then do update and a new blank community folder will be added. You can then delete that and rename the old one back.

I got a problem with the community folder and some aircrafts that I downloaded from flightsim.to. Doesn’t show on the MSFS plane area ?? This program could fix my problem??
