Great respect for PM Mia Mottley 🫡 I believe Barbados will be the “Singapore” of the Caribbean under her charge. Rome wasn’t built in one day. The Chinese people took 2 decades of extreme self sacrifice / austerity and hardwork to turn the battered nation around to its present enviable status. Brave on Barbados 🇧🇧 You’ll stand triumph, the shining ⭐️ in the Caribbean and the world.

But can the country feed itself if and when tourism fall short? PM, how about investing and promoting agriculture on a big level and backyard gardens at the household level! Getting people excited about growing their own food is something I am passionate about, I encourage all who see this post to start a garden today! I hope someday to be in a place with year-round sunshine, that way I wouldn't have to wait for winter to end to start gardening!
@Coco-uk9tv10 ай бұрын
Best comment so far. It's ridiculous that Barbados imports so many processed foods from the US and even the UK. Barbados should be able to grow all its fresh produce, there is sunshine, and the lack of year round water availability can be fixed by renewable technologies. The fresh produce can be used to create pickled foods to be sold to other Carribean islands and Africa as can the fresh produce.

Her speech was very in depth already that going into saying that would have made it even longer. She did say she has her own garden which smart people should infer that they should have and maintain a garden. However not every one has the time required to invest in growing food and thus Barbados’s partnerships in increasing domestic food production using advanced aquaponic technologies is brilliant!
@pmb666710 ай бұрын
@@jac-jameer6305 Exactly, and many, many times before, she has already addressed in detail, what the commenter wrote. Her speeches are not hidden, they are online for all to hear. Everything from Barbadians being encouraged into growing their own food to offset costs, to teaching CHILDREN about the old ways of agriculture, growing plants, and also including learning to raise animals, etc., but also including the _new technologies available today._ She can't (and shouldn't have to) repeat every single nuance in every single speech, otherwise she'd need a vacation after each one!

Indebtedness has actually been reduced, whilst picking up infrastructural works. Public works are important drivers of an economy. They are generators of income through finance and employment. Rome was not built in a day.
@pmb666710 ай бұрын
@@4nbop80user Exactly, and Barbados gov't gets far better rates than the 'you know who' party. Too many people still don't understand there's GOOD debt and bad debt. Barbados is INVESTING the money they borrow (even multiplying it too), tofix everything we need to do to grow the economy. IF the UK, of all places can borrow money and not pay it off for over 100 years, to rebuild themseoves (while still extracting wealth and labour from their colonized nations, I might add), then why can't Barbados borrow even less thn them, to GROW? That's how one grows. Salary/wages basd on time doesn't build one's wealth, INVESTMENT and multiplying funds, does. Everyone in Barbados has a chance.

The future of every sovereign country depends on its government, to say anything else is disingenuous. US taxpayers are not obligated to take care of other countries flourishing. Flourishing will only happen, when government’s decide to trust their citizens and adopt capitalism.
